I created this thread mainly because I wanted to discuss Metroid Prime: Hunters, which I bought a few days ago and am enjoying greatly, but it's open for general Metroid discussion as well.

Any fans of the series around?

I only ever played the original and that was quite a hile ago, it was pretty good at the time though. The last time I played anything Metroid related was on Super Smash Brothers and on Wario Ware (which is the most overlooked game of all-time).

Super Metroid III was probably the coolest game I owned for my SNES. It's one of the only games which can be dynamically atmospheric thanks to level design, sound effects and music. The series transferred very well to 3D with Prime, but Echoes was pretty crappy. I don't own a DS so I won't be getting hunters, however, I will be buying the third Prime game for Wii.

I’ve only played Metroid and Super Metroid, both fantastic games and Super Metroid remains one of my favourite games. I should really look into the Gamecube games...

I only played the two Metroid games for the GBA, the first one was rather amusing, the second one was actually a remake of the original Metroid.

The original Metroid was amusing to look at though, I had it on an emulator as well.
