Capt. Spence Dilworth was investigating the murder of a Florida man from West Feliciana like he would any other. Then, infamous and beloved attorney Jack Thompson rang him up and suggested he look at the evidence again, re-search the house of a teenage suspect and locate any violent videogames he may have owned.
Florida newspaper The Advocate says a few turned up, but Dilworth isn't convinced. "I think it goes beyond video games, but who's to say?" At the same time, his commentary suggests he has not ruled out the possibility, either.
Oh, boy, someone's never heard of Thompson before.
The incident came to Thompson's attention after reviewing autopsy reports that produced "red flags" in his mind about the murder. "Nobody shoots anybody in the face unless you're a hit man or a video gamer," he said, suggesting the murder's scenario was ripped straight from Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto series.
At least Entertainment Software Association president Doug Lowenstein remains steadfast. "The Entertainment Software Association expresses sincere sympathy to the family of the victim of this senseless crime. But efforts by discredited anti-video game zealots to blame video games are cynical and misplaced," he told the newspaper.

| Seriously. Hit men do NOT shoot people in the face. That's like the first rule. Their hires need to be able to identify the hit. Thompson apparently hasn't seen Leon the Professional with Jean Reno and Natalie Portman. |

Awsome movie. And you're right, a hit man goes for the heart. The reason an amateur shoots in the face is because you're more likely to kill someone with a head shot than you are likely to find the heart if you don't know what you're doing. |

It's a stupid assumption on his part. I love the response of the Entertainment Software Association guy. People can be so goddamn ignorant and hardheaded sometimes, it's just unfortunate that they believe any of that about games...he should have pointed fingers at every type of entertainment instead of singling out one.
