Default  GBA - A childs console or something for all ages?

Many people believe that a GBA (Gameboy Advance) is something for the younger gamers. A console that has simple games to play on it and can be played by very young children. The GBA also has some more complicated games though such as Final Fantasy Tactics, which has not done so well due to people believing that the console is "babyish" and so the game must be also.

This topic has been widely debated and now it is up to you to decide. Give your views on this subject.

I do not think it is childish, as Final Fantasy Tactics is on it. Although the majority of games are rather easy. I am both ways on this, but the reason I have not bought a GBA is due to my lack of interest for a very small screen. The only nice feature in my opinion, is the ability to be carried in one's pocket. The name Gameboy in any title makes me think of Pokemon, as that is all I used to play on my Gameboy. That too influenced me from not buying it.

I don't think it's just a console for kids, hell it has Doom, Doom II and Max Payne out on it, but I can see why it's labeled a kids console, most games on it are stuff like Disney, Mario and Pokemon, but you can get the odd "Mature" game.

GBA is mainly a thing for kids. I own one and I only use it when I have to spend time in the car, but most people buy it to play on it more often and it has a rare amount of mature games. I do enjoy playing on it, but you won't see me playing on it more than 3 hours since than I am already bored as hell.

I think it's something for all ages, just like any home consoles. There are many adults that play video games, more than you may think. I found FFTA to be pretty challenging. SMB3 is still as challenging as ever.

I think it's a handheld console for all ages. *votes*

Please, the game is far too easy. I beaten it 4 days after I got it and that was in a school week. Sure you have alot of missions (300) but after 100 you have probally already beaten the game. My current count is 170 missions and I hardly play the game. It is addictive in the first week but than it just gets old. I like the fact you can customize your little army (lv 40 paladin, lv 40 mog knight, lv 40 fighter, lv 40 dragoon, lv 40 elementalist, lv 40 sage) But once you have masterd 2 classes you are not in the need to learn more. My characters masterd 4 classes but only 2 are really usefull the others are more for back up.

I do get what you're saying it's for children but there are games a kid could never even get far in, like Golden Sun2, I couldn't see a kid getting past Airs Rock.

Just because a console has games that are for Everyone doesn't mean that it's a kiddy console, does it? Seeing as how PS2 has games for little children the GBA is focused on games that look good with those graphics. Honestly the only reason it doesn't have more mature games is because you can't get games to look very good on it unless it's a very colorful type game. Well thats my opinion anyway. But FFTA was a good game to play in my spare time. I've beaten the game at 107 missions and I'm now at 40 hours 4 hidden characters and 210 missions beaten, I also have every job class accessible to me. *No life*

Plus I have the new Harvest Moon, I guess GBA is more of an acquired taste.

In my opinion its more of a travel console...not one for adults and not one for kids. Its a console you buy if you either travel alot or don't always have access to a major console like a PS2, X-Box, GC etc. But yeah there is no majorly challenging games but games which are time consuming. So it has no definition.
