Originals vs Sequels

Ok, this is one major thing that is probably thought about by the big game companies... To make new titles nobody knows or has experienced, or to create the same game again with some new stuff? 'Tis a very debatable topic...
I personally love going for new stuff... If it wasn't for new ideas Ape Escape would never have come out! x)
Sequels are ok as long as they don't go beyond three... And each one has to be a game of it's own... MGS2 was quite different from MGS, as was Suikoden 3 from Suikoden 1 and 2... These are two good examples of good sequels... Bad sequels would be Street Fighter (the later ones), Resident Evil, just to name two... xD
So which do you prefer? |

| We gamers yearn for originality in games...but as is the fad lately Sequals are the craze...FFX..Tho this could be a good thing in that case...also BG series is very good...its games like Tomb Raider or as u say Strret Fighter and more Resi games that give sequles a bad name.. |

Im not sure  I prefer some sequals to others (mainly FF games) and some orignals or sequals like DMC
Depends on the game really, but i tend to go for the orignals more then the sequals  |

Sequals are a good thing if the developers can bring something legitimately new to the table with the sequal. If they want to keep the characters or idea going but not rehash the same game with a few slight upgrades or features, I think there's nothing better.
That being said, if a developer continues to just release the same game with only those slight features or tweaks, then its a complete waste of time. I believe the term is "Milking it for all it's worth" |

| Originals. The only good sequel EVER, and I'm supposing that it is classed as a sequel, would have to be FFVII. Though it's not really a sequel, because theres no '-2', it still isn't the original 'Final Fantasy' title. |

| Originals do tend to be better than most sequels... That is of course with the exception of a few worthy sequels that have come out over the many years, but yeah most of them suck. So it's originals. |

I'd go with originals. First off, fighting sequels suck. They seem to get worse and worse with each release cough Mortal Kombat cough. Well, MK did get better with Deadly Alliance.
I would rather play Chrono Trigger over Chrono Cross. Dragon Warrior Monsters over Dragon Warrior Monsters II. It's just how I am, sue me. |

Well I'd also say both.
the series GTA and FF are very good!!!
Those games have good squeals and originals..
The only squeal I here coming out for FF are:
FFX-2
and it looks totally sweet! |
