Any of you like Dance Dance Revolution? If you do, then you'll love Dance with Intensity (DWI). Anyways what it is, is a DDR game for your computer! Its almost like the real thing IMO. Its kinda complicated to get setup so I'll go over the basics.
1. Download the file from here http://www.bemanistyle.com/sims/programs.htm (Note: this is the program itself and it doesnt come with any songs. You'll need to get those in a little bit. Just click the version number to the right of the text "Dance with Intensity")
2. It should come in a .zip file so make a suitable folder that this program will go into. (On my comp. the directory for it is C:/DWI)
3. Test it out first. You wont have any songs yet, but now's the time to test it out. Double click the little arrow icon labeled "DWI2.exe" It should work. Although some computers I've noticed cant load it up using this method. If that's the case for you then double click the little icon that has a window with a gear inside of it. This is an MS-DOS batch file and it should work now. (BTW the name of that file is DWI-sdl.bat)
4. Now if your program is loading up right and it goes to the main menu thats cool! Now, hit esc. to exit out of the program. Its now time for you to download songs.
5. This part is the trickiest part of the whole thing. Getting songs. (Note: If I didnt explain how to get the songs working well enough to you then there is a readme file that comes with the program you can read. As well as a FAQ guide.) Before downloading any songs double click on the "songs" folder located within your DWI folder. Once your in there, you should see a file called default. This file serves no purpose so you can delete it if you want. After that make a new folder called 'My songs' or whatever you want your songs to go in. (Note you can create more than one folder, like if you wanted to make a folder for every mix, thats what I did.) After you have some sort of file created for your songs to go in your set to download songs now.
6. Next go here to the main song index. http://www.bemanistyle.com/sims.htm Choose any song from any mix you want. Thats the good part about DWI, you can have anysong you want. Once you find the song you want to download, on the right hand side of all the songs there should be 3 links you can click on .dwi, .sm, and .mp3 your gonna want the .dwi files and .mp3 files. This is next part is kinda tricky. Instead of clicking the links, RIGHT CLICK them and click SAVE TARGET AS, cause it will only try to open them up in I.E if you click them. First right click and save as the .dwi file. When it asks you which folder you want to download it to, go to your My Songs, or whatever you named your song folder, then create a new folder naming it the name of the song. Then save the dwi file in that folder that you just made specifically for the song. Next right click and save the matching mp3 file for that song in the same folder. Now you have your first song! Dont celebrate yet though cause it wont work like this. go to the folder that you created for that song and youll see the mp3 like normal and a zip folder. The zip folder is what was saved when you downloaded the .dwi folder. Simply unzip all the contents of the zip folder in that song folder and your set! The zip should contain a .dwi folder which is the arrow pattern for the song, a background pic and a banner pic for the song. You now have your first song! Repeat the same process for other songs.
7. Now this is what you do next. Open up your DWI program and go to options. (This is where all the options are, you can choose to make your DWI full screen if you want too.) Then select the option "Refresh song list" It should then say 1 new song found. (if it didnt already scan it at the begining. Newer versions do that for you)
8. Now go to arcade mode and play your song!! I know there are a lot of steps to get this working but its WELL WORTH IT for all you DDR fans out there. I've played many hours on this. And if you want DDR Extreme (8th Mix) songs, the site i gave doesnt quite have them up yet, but they will soon. Youll have to search google for them. If you have any questions feel free to PM or IM me, or you can read the FAQ or readme file that comes with the program. Have fun and happy dancing!
