Source : EGM Magazine, November 2002 Issue:
Square may not release it due to the fact that they need a whole team to maintain the servers, offer technical support, prevent hacks, and stuff.
So, unless they team up with Sony completely to operate the game, or hire some unknown company to do all the dirtywork, don't expect FFXI to come out Spring 2003, or at all.

of course hes got a November mag, it's a known fact that when you buy a mag, then it's a month early
I hope that ain't true, I ain't goin crazy over FFXI, cause i'm not to excited about it, but I have to play it for the fact that it is a FF game |

| This is a pretty solid rumor, however, it is still a rumor. But EGM gets some pretty hardcore game facts from the best inside people. |

Well, I wouldn't be surprised. FFXI would take too much effort from Square and Sony, and it wouldn't bring enough money.
And besides, I'm not anticipating at all FFXI.
But it could be just a rumor. No one should trust EGM anymore.
