I liked ff XII i think it had a great story. The battle system was good and so was the license grid. I think its an overall good game.

Story lacked, characters lacked, battle system was awesome. Hm. It was a failed experiment, in my opinion. I found the battle system a really good idea, but it seemed like they spent too much time on it and not on the story/characters.
Better luck next time, S-E.

I was down with the fact that it was so political. Maybe too much at times, because at certain points I had problems keeping names and "sides" straight. But I enjoyed playing, I enjoyed the battle system, and the license wasn't too bad. My major gripe with the game was with summoning. I barely did it, because I felt they were rather useless, and I didn't like that they came out and fought with you while the rest of the party went away. Each time they came out, I felt I was severely disadvantaged.

I definitely wouldn't go as far as to call it the "worst" Final Fantasy ever, but I found it to be a let-down. The storyline definitely lacked substance and it was about as compelling as a ripening melon (okay, maybe not that bad). Compared to the likes of Final Fantasy X, or dating back to the earlier installments for the PS1, it just doesn't compare. Now, I understand that every, single title for the franchise can't be golden, but this one was about as close as it comes to a disappointment.
That being said, I found FFX-2 to be the worst Final Fantasy, at least, in recent memory. The storyline didn't compare to FFX, and anytime you're making a sequel (especially for an RPG), it's at least got to be on par with the original. And the dress spheres? Gimme a break.

Eargh... FF2 sucked.
Now, FFXII... that was a game with a decent story!
Pity about the battle system though... After the Active turn base of FFX, the system in FFXII was a disappointment.
Yet somehow, I keep finding myself playing FFXII again. It's that story. Excellent.

FFXII was a great looking, especially with all the updates on the PS3's graphic enhancing firmware (I got an old 40GB by the way)...I swear it looked HD and the character designs were awesome. Balthier was a pimp for sure and ranks among my favorite characters ever.
But the story was really lacking, not enough emotion and Vaan was meh....annoying.

Worst game ever? Have you played FFX2.
Granted people may not like the political side of FFXII but youd prefer Charlies Angels over FFXII?

FFX didn't have ATB.
If memory serves me, the last FF game to feature the old ATB was FFIX.

Quite true.

CTB was probably the best part about FFX aside from the music/sound.

Same here to, I'll like X-2 more than 12. Sure X-2 wasn't anywhere close as good as X but was still better then XII.

I wasn't referring to the old ATB of FF. I was referring to the Advanced Turn based system they used which was much more active than most other turn bases.
I liked it very much, actually.

Worse game ever.. hmmm tough call to make. But definitely one of the worst. Maybe the worst game in the series if you don't include pre/sequals.
The story lacked depth and was predictable from the word go. I mean within the first few hours you knew who the final boss was: Vayne.
THe character development.... well.. some characters in the party had nil virtually (Penelo being the example) As others have said they could have done much much more with the party characters.
Graphics? Ok, they were fine for a PS2 FF... but I don't know.. I really was expecting the quality to be a tad better considering the developments they had made with other projects since FFX and the time it took between the said game and FFXII's release.
Music: Again I agree with the opinion that it was.. fairly bland and unmemoriable, if suiting for the scene. There are really only three pieces that stick in my mind. The opening scene/overture, the closing credits and the Archdian Theme. The rest I couldnt remember. Even If i heard it I probably couldn't tell you what it was from.
Game play: Ok it was nice change from the older styles. It was good to see what enemies were out there... and to avoid those which you knew would kick your butt. And the gambit system was good, though i think they could have tweaked it a little more. But I didn't like the license board. I much preferred FFX's version. There you didn't need to not only earn the experience point and as well buy the thing to lock onto it.. Kinda meant you had to earn a skill twice to get it on a character... not really efficient in my mind.
Summons: ok.. like anohter person has already said... well they just plan sucked.. they were uncontrollable, random.. and basically useless. They were only good to use once, in order to see their full overdrive. Apart from that.. total utter waste of time and space to use or even acquire.
Side quests: Ok again, one of the better parts of the game. Certainly enough out there. But i was missing the chocobo quests of IX or the card game of VIII/IX or even the coin game in X-2. It to me the Hunts seemed like just more grinding though the idea behind them was sound. Just not the way they did it.
All in all, I only managed to finish it to say I had finished the thing. It don't see any replay value in it. And its not like I haven't tried.. I just cant stand the first part at all which turns me off within a couple of hours which doesnt help at all.
