| Is there anyway I can modify my PAL PS2 to play the NTSC version of FFXII? My TV accepts NTSC inputs as well as PAL and I have the Joytech LCD if that's any help. Please I want the NTSC version because it's age rating is 12+ compared to the PAL PEGI 16+. I wont be 16 until three months after the European release. |

You'll need to install a mod chip. And I'm not entirely sure how to do that, so someone with more gaming smarts than me will have to tell you.
Also, I'm booting this to the proper section. |

Like The Man said, you'd need to mod your PS2, due to region locks and whatnot.
Though I also hear that you can get a boot disc or something like that that lets you start up you PS2, swap out the boot disc for the game disc, and play games from other regions. |

Also, who cares if you're three months under 16, it's not like the people who sell it check it. The only ones that would possibly care are your parents. And it should be released in PAL countries at your birthday anyways.
I'll just wait, that's fo shizzle.
But if you do insist, yeah, get it modded. Usually there's someone who mods consoles in just about every backwater town, go look on the internet on local auction or market sites, they usually advertise on there.
Else, you need to find a place where you can buy a mod chip, and look on the internet for instructions. Then you can go open your PS2, remove some chip (forcefully) and solder in the new chip yourself.
Alternatively, you can go to Ebay and try and buy an NTSC PS2, import it to whatever country you live in. If your TV takes NTSC input without a problem, then you're good for this and other US games to come . |

I think you must be the first person ive ever come across who has worried about the age ratings of a game in relation to buying it.
YopY has pretty much covered it. By modding it, you pretty much invalidate your warranty etc- so if you get a botched mod job, you could be screwed. |

Does anyone actually own a PS2 that's still under warranty? |

True...
I suppose latecomers and the slimline might JUST have a warranty... |

And else, it's (only) $150 nowadays, probably will get cheaper soon. So it won't matter much . |
