This has come from a number of sources, so I figure it's reliable enough to post.

This story tells about the Tactical Points (TP) aspect of the various weapons, which allow you to perform skills certain to specific weapons depending on how filled the guage is. This will be the replacement for limit breaks in FFXI. Not mentioned in news, though, is the fact that your TP gauge is filled through battle, and will decreases over time that you're not in battle, so the only way to keep it filled to be able to use your techniques is to constantly battle.

    Did you know that I was the original editor for the FFXI additions. They have added so much since my departure from the team. Wow. Good source though, very reliable.

the TP guage actually goes up as you are hit by monsters. at 100% you can use special 'abilities', and as you use the rest ability(regain mp and hp faster than normal), it starts to decrease. the TP guage can go all the way to 300%, and anything over 100% just makes the ability more effective. so if the bar was at 200% it would make the ability twice as effective than if it was at 100%.
