This year is the celebration of the FF brand and series but actually today is also the 15 year anniversary of the release of Final Fantasy VII in Japan on January 31, 1997.
It came to Europe November 17th, America September 7th.
As the years have passed since its initial release, Square Enix have made numerous spinoffs, films and other such merchandise
2012 is upon us now, what could the company have in store for the future? What memories does the original FFVII have for you?
Happy 15th anniversary, Final Fantasy VII — Gematsu

Goodness, I feel real old now.
In August of 1997, I remember taking the train to get to middle school. In the subway stations, there was promotion posters for Final Fantasy VII. It was a big deal, as I don't remember seeing another game being promoted so heavily. It was the most anticipated game at the time.

I was 4 at the time, and had an uncle who loved video games. I remember at Christmas he had three gaming systems in his hands, and he asked me to pick one. I picked the Playstation, which also came with VII.
I was so young that I didn't understand the game that much, but I made it out of Midgar somehow. Picked it back up when I was 12, and finished it. It holds a lot of memories for me.

Oh, I'd go into XIII just to kick Snow in the groin and shove Lightning into her sisters vagina.

I can't believe it's been that long.
I remember Final Fantasy VII (along with Tactics, Ehgerzig, and Ocarina of Time within the following year) being the first time I really had anticipated a game's release. I had played prior FF, Zelda, and miscellaneous RPG titles on my older brother's NES and SNES, but I had only really played Madden on my PS prior to FFVII's release. For the next five years, I was purchasing anything Squaresoft had their hand in.

Well, if I had to choose between a Mexican brain surgeon, and a gay massage therapist... I'd choose the gay guy. I'm Mexican, I know how shitty the medical standards are in Mexico.
