Am I the only one who's ever noticed that there are some seriously weirdass names in FF?

Some have rather obvious origins (like Shiva or Freya) but others...well...sheeez.

Not only that, how the hell do you pronounce some of this stuff? I read the other day that the proper pronunciation for Quistis is "key-stehs" or something like that. Holy rectangular pumpkins! Would YOU wanna be stuck with a name like that? What would they call ya for short? "Key"-ster?

See what happens when ya let me post a thread at 4 in the morning?

To be honest, I'm clueless about a lot of the pronunciations of FF names.

So...what names confuse YOU people? Or make you laugh? (For some reason I giggle every time I say "Selphie") Or just make you wonder what the hell the writers were smokin when they named these poor characters?

they have always been original with there names, but look at most other RPG games they all have weird names.
e.g koudelka, alundra, its beyond me how to prononce FF names.

Quistis is an interesting name- I've heard both Quis-tis and Qui-tis. Other names that I've heard people have debated over pronounciation is Yuffie and Caith Sith.

I've always thought of Kuja as Kuh/Koo-jah...

Square should put pronounciations next to the character names at their site like in dictionaries.

Dammit, my cold won't go away!

I've always thought of Kuja as bein "coo-jah"

The Quistis thing bothers me the most...cuz I've always said "Quih-stihs"...and I think that sounds cool...but "Key-stihs" sounds stupid to me.
