FF7 on Windows XP.....

...Well, it doesn't work for me. My computer meets all the requirements, so that doesn't have anything to do with it.
The problem here is Windows XP. Has anyone gotten it to work on Windows XP? I know that it's possible for it to work on XP...
When I install the game, everything is fine. Then when I go to play it, nothing loads, and there is just a black screen. I can't exit out of that, or use ctrl + alt + del... I have to manually shut my computer off ¬_¬ Oh, and I have XP Home Edition.
If anyone can help me, I would be very grateful ................

Wasn't there some procedure about going into Win95 compatibility mode or something like that? I know close to nothing about that, but if there is such a thing, give it a go.

| This could be your problem, as I have had the same thing happen to me. I installed Windows XP, and Unreal Tournament ceased to run on my computer. All I got when trying to play the game was a blank screen. After a few days of tearing my hair out, I realised that my Graphics Card wasn't Precaching. I uninstalled the graphics card using the control panel, and I then reinstalled it with some Windows XP drivers. Try to find some Windows XP drivers for your graphics card to see whether that makes any difference. |

That sounds like it might work - graphics card problem sounds about right.

| hmmm...Windows XP may just not be compatible with older titles such as FFVII. Microsoft changed alot of things with the programming in XP (IE, it doesn't run DOS anymore) so it could just be incompatibility stuff. I'll look into it more. |
