I actually prefer the materia system i dont know why but i think its because at the end of the before you actually go to the last boss that you can still collect all of the materia you missed unlike with the draw system if you miss a summon its pretty much s.o.l for you and you just sit there going CRAP i wish i had the leviathan GF or something like that. With the materia you go back and find it where you missed it. Simple as that.
Heres an example of the GF system.
im so sad that i missed the GF i feel sick  |

| Materia System...by far. Draw system was too long...materia is easier and cooler. |

Materia of course Draw command was way too easy and you couldnt combine magic (Comet+HP plus) like you did in Materia system. |

| Actually, I didn't like either, but I go with the materia system because drawing magic made everything very easy if you had lots of strong magic ^^ Plus, it was too repetitive. I didn't exactly enjoy going "Draw, draw, draw, draw, draw..." over and over >.< |

*chuckles*
I'm going to have to go with the Materia system too, unfortunately. I just loved finding new Materia, or buying it in a new town. And also, there was the challenge of leveling it up for more powerful attacks, not to mention the fact that to get the best Materia you had to search long and hard, get a bred Chocobo, etc. It's not like in FF8, where you can just draw it out of an enemy and use it, in FF7 you actually had to work for your magic abilities. Some people thought the Materia system sucked, but that's thier opinion. My friend says it's too complicated. Eh, w/e. All you have to do is equip it and battle. LoL. Plus, anything that comes from FF7 can't suck. ^^ |

If you miss a drawable GF, you have another chance and can draw them from the bosses in Ultimecia's Castle. Don't get sick if you missed one, you don't have to start over.
As for me, I am undecided in terms of use and effect. However I'll go with Draw because FF8's battle system is one of the best ever. |
