You read the title. Who do you think would win?
Keep in mind, this isn't meant to be a "KAIN COZ HE'S GOTS A SPEAR!1!"-type of thread. Take the actual game statistics and all that, and see who would actually win. To keep things simple, both characters are at level 70.
I personally see it as a toss-up, but it leans more toward Rydia. I see Kain as having the first attack, being more agile than Rydia. He Jumps, which would be the logical choice. Now, while Kain is getting ready to Jump or in the act of Jumping, Rydia could start casting Flare. When Kain lands and deals some damage, Rydia will immediately hit him with it. This will do massive damage to Kain, who could Jump. But this spells doom for him, as he will nearly kill her, but she would most definitely kill him with another Flare. But, if he attacks her, he might get off 2 hits while she's still casting something. This could either kill her or only wound her, it could go either way. Of course, she could just cast an Ice/Fire/Lit 2 or 3 spell to kill him off, depending on how weak he is.
Meteo isn't a good spell, because it takes forever to cast. Rydia also has great physical defense if you equip her with the right stuff. If she loses, it would be her low-HP that caused it.
Kain's weakness is his low Magic Defense. This isn't good for him against Rydia.

| For me it would have to be Rydia simply because I build and stack all of my best equipment on her. Although it would be close, Rydia's magic would just overpower Kain's physical strength. |

| Rydia takes too much time to cast any deadly spell on Kain. And besides, Kain's jump allows him to evade any attack or magic while he's in the air. So I vote for Kain. |
