I would have to say Kain. Although he is controlled, he is still a cool character.

Personality-wise, I agree with all of the above. As for battle abilites... Edge rocked!! Did anyone remember the duplication weapon trick? I made like 30 something Excaliburs and had Edge dart them in sticky battles for 9999 damage a pop! Hehe...

I would have to say that Cain, Cecil, Edge and Rydia are my favourite characters. I only like Cecil when he is a Dark Knight though. Otherwise he stinks !

Hands down, it has to be Rydia...

I don't know why I like her so much... I always think that it's because when I first played FF IV, not only was it my first Final Fantasy, but it was also when i was 6 or 7... Around the same age as Rydia... And so on that level I could connect with her.

Rydia is a powerful member in any battle. Her magic is easily the most helpful thing in the game, at any point in the game.

And her character! Wow... She matures right before our eyes... From an innocent, young victim who is naive of her surroundings into a young woman, battling for what she knows is right... She's one of the few characters who doesn't doubt what she's doing, or doesn't ever think of "turning." Everything about her... I love .

I'd go for Cecil, just because when you get every piece of Crystal and the Crystal sword, he can destroy anything, his strength is almost maxed out at level 45.
