god, it's only our opinion in the matter, don't go crazy. I don't think this should have ever been an arguement to begin with, if we don't think it was fair, then that was only our opinions. if you want to keep things going the way they are thats fine, but that little tiny voice inside me that we all have, is going to disagree. sorry if your pissed of at people just because they think things aren't going fairly and you don't like it, but I don't really care if your mad at me, it doesn't bother me one bit.

[To all Staffers that participated in the argument: I understand if sound like a suck up but I assure you it's not. I know the work that you all put into this. The Repubbies are voted by members for members. I understand what you have to do to be a Staff member of a major forum, as I am a moderator at two forums and administrator at 7 (6 of which are dead) forums, soon to be eight. I am also a webmaster. May sound like my life story but I have basically given up my social life for those places. I only really get out of the house by going to school. It is hard for me to this, but if I leave one of these things, I'll regret it.
[To all members: Ok, may have sounded like a suck up, It wasn't. I was just having my final say. If you do want to get far, you must really think before you prejudice a person just for what they are, not who they are. I saw that staffers were just members with a bigger role to play on FFR. They set up the forums, they set up the Repubbies, they deserve some credit. We only make their job harder by spamming, arguing over what they are and aren't allowed, and there is only so far you can push a person before they break and push you back. When we make their job harder, they persevere and make everything ok again, it's what makes the boards prosper. |

Right first congratulations to everyone who won. These were my first Repubbies too *congratulates self*
Now for this "petty" argument about staff and awards.
Is it me or did you all overlook the fact that even before Rei was a member of the staff she was a very popular member, she was friendly to everyone. When she got promoted to the staff she didn't change a bit.. she was still her same old self.
So maybe the reason she won so many awards was because she was popular and comes across as a friendly person. Not because she was a staff member.
The reason why a lot of staff members are nominated is because they are long-standing members of the community, they know a lot of the members and have many a friend amongst the community.
Picking at the staff because they won awards and "happen to be staff" is practically just as immature as a little child throwing a tantrum because Mommy won't be him/her a toy he/she likes the look of.
Staff Members and Members alike are equally respected people who equally deserve awards. Maybe you could have forgot that the whole point of the Repubbies is to celebrate FFR's age and to give appreciation back to all the members/staff who have contributed to it.
So why don't you go and take the time to go back and read the NOMINATIONS THREAD and you'd actually see that quite a lot of members were nominated.
I for one was not a member of the FFR Staff when the nominations took place, I didn't even expect to become a member of the staff anyway.. and I still won 3 awards.
Being a staff member doesn't win you awards. Dedication, Humor, Friendliness and a big smile will. If you want to win an award then give the FFR community something to remember you by. If you make a person smile or laugh then you're more likely to get an award.
The Repubbies are a CELEBRATORY AWARD CEREMONY, try to remember that people.
If the awards were a $1,000,000 then I'd understand the stance you'd taking. But these awards are something to give back to the community and the people who contribute to it, and the staff themselves may have an grain more power than members.. but they still contribute to the community.
Anyway again congratulations to all those who won or were nominated, and best of luck to everyone in the next Repubbies. |

Liam's right. You don't even win an RP prize, just an image. It's immature to fight over it. I bet, if you stick around enough, that next time the Repubbies are around, you'll win a bunch and then you'll be eating these words. The Repubbies mostly go to those who stick around and are friendly/popular members. You don't win an award because you are on staff, it can help but it's never the soul reason.

That's the final word on it. Staff members will continue to win awards in the Repubbies and that is the end of this conversation. Next person to spark this up again will recieve an official warning, as this is stirring up bad attitudes and bringing out the petty children in all of us.

Now, congrats to all those who won.  Those who didn't win; Don't be disheartened. If you were only nominated then you should be honored. Think about it. 2000 members and you got chosen out of those 2000. It's a great honor. If you were even mentioned by one person, in the nomination thread, you should be honored. To know one person appreciates you is worth more than all the respect, adoration, money and awards in the world.
