Song Writing Contest
Here is the perfect opprotunity for talented song writers to show their stuff. There will be rewards for the winners (which we hope will increase the number of entries in the contest). The rules are as follows:
- The lyrics must be your own original creation.
- No material which is of questionable content or may be deemed as offensive.
- A title must be given.
- Genre must be identified.
The rules are pretty much general and non-restrictive. We want the writers to have fun and freedom (respectably) while participating in this event. The reason why genre was asked to be specified is because it will help our judges to rate the lyrics (knowing what style of music it is could greatly help). Speaking of the judges, we currently have three capable judges who eagerly volunteered for the job:
ECCENTRICHOCOBO
Princess
WinterNights
Awards are as follows (and the RP will be distributed when made availiable again):
- First Place: 400 RP, a personalized sig stating they've won the contest, and a spot on the content page of FFR showing the winning lyrics.
- Second Place: 250 RP, and a personalized sig stating they've won second place.
- Third Place: 125 RP, and a personalized sig stating they've won third place.
We are hoping these awards will attract many entries. The contest has officially begun, and will end on March 22, 2004. To all contest participants, we wish you the best of luck and hope you have fun. |

Hey siiiiista, you know how you're my sis? xD *Nudge nudge* *cough*subtle hint*cough* =P
Seriously, I'll be entering, but I have a couple of questions:
1 - Do the entries have to have been written since the contest's announcement, or can we post any lyrics we've written, at any time?
2 - If we decide we've written something better after we enter, can we submit the new piece?
3 - What do you classify to be 'questionable content' or offensive? Some songs use coarse langauge to great effect, without needing to but being better for it.
Oh, and I'd disagre with the requirement for putting the genre. I appreciate it would make it easier to 'hear' it, but on the other hand if someone not remotely fond of rap is judging a rap song, there will be issues raised about fairness and suchlike. |

Yes, swearing in lyrics may prove to make the song better. Try listening to Rancid - David Courtney or The Transplants - DJ DJ, they both have alot of swearing in, and make the song better in my mind that what it could be without.
But if staff members are permitted to take part, i shall. |

They're going to have to have an unbiased look at the entrants' songs.
I'll be entering. I can't sing, but I hope I can make some lyrics that may touch you. The Genre will be Country. But if you studied Country you know it is more then Toby Keith (not to bash Toby Keith, I think he's great). Good luck to everyone! This will be my first attempt to write a song, but I'll have some fun with it. |

| I think the "questionable or offensive content" means rascist or flamming people of their appearance. I don't believe coarse language will offend anybody, as long as their is no racial slurs (like said above) |

Do you we send our lyrics privately as a private message to each of you three judges? Or do we post your lyrics here for you to judge?
and
Are we able to create more than one song/lyrics? |
