God only knows how many movies theyll make of this franchise- rumours that itll go up to seven seem likely at the moment.
Four have been released in cinemas and on dvd so far and news today of someone being cast in Saw 5- Julie Benz, who was lately seen in the new Rambo flick:
Julie Benz is one of those actresses that is pretty good in everything that she does, but only has a following because of her work in the worlds of Joss Whedon. I rarely hear anyone talk about her guest appearance on Roswell or her part in the miniseries Taken, but anyone who watched Buffy or Angel quickly remembers her as Darla, the vampire who turned Angel into a vamp and eventually bore him a son.
Variety reports that Benz has joined the cast of SawV, although in what capacity is uncertain. Benz can play malevolent well enough that she could easily be the next incarnation of the killer, as a devotee or copycat of Jigsaw. On the other hand, she could just as easily be a victim of the killer’s mechanics, however that would work since Jigsaw himself is dead. Here’s hoping whatever the role is, that it’s memorable enough to give Benz more of the credit she deserves as an actress.

well i got saw 4 when it came out. the only one i havent seen is 3 and i kind of need to. i found the 4th one an improvement as it focused on story more then "ok guys, lets see how twisted we can make this" like the second one. im glad theyre making a fifth, i wanna see what happens to the detective.
plus theres a game on the way. |

but if they're gonna make 7 of it where's the story to fit in the
rest of the movies? |

| well 4 was a prequel and a run in with 3 (they ran at the same time according to wiki). 5 will focus on the detective guy(hopefully) and i suppose 6-7 will have something else in store. but its time for an ending so i can watch all of them. |

Some casting news for the fifth installment:
Megan Good, the super hot star of Waist Deep and Stomp the Yard, has been cast in Saw V as Luba, a city planner who comes from an extremely affluent family.
Good joins Tobin Bell, Scott Patterson, Costas Mandylor and Julie Benz in the Lionsgate production, which will be directed by the series' former production designer David Hackl.
Saw V is filming now and should hit the big screen on October 24, 2008.

I can't wait to see it. I love movies that make me cringe and keep me guessing. As for a game, i'd definantly play it, but it'll scare the crap outta me.
I remember Julie Benz from Jawbreaker more than anything else. She was a proper ditz in that. Would be cool to see her playing the evil guy again though. Oh, and for Julie Benz fans, she'll be at the MCM Expo in London this May, so look out for her. |

I agree with you Quistis, ive 'enjoyed' the Saw films too- the macabre games, plot twists etc keep you guessing.
Betsy Russel, the wife of Jigsaw- and who will be in the fifth film had a chat with BloodyDisgusting website:
Now that she's one of the main stars of SAW V we tried to dig to get some goodies out of her. I knew this was going to be a battle. When asked what does Jill's future hold in SAW V she joked, "If I told you, I'd have to kill you in a bloody and disgusting way..."
Depending on how you look at Jigsaw, you might see his cause as noble. Russell tells us what it feels like to be his wife. "It feels great to be cherished and adored," she explains, "I think every wife should be, it's a great aphrodisiac..."
Jill may or may not agree with what Jigsaw is doing, but what does Russell think of his actions? "[I think] some of us need a moment or an event to happen in our lives to make us step off the treadmill of life and say, 'hey, am I appreciating what I have?' Let me re-evaluate here and see if I'm making the most of it... Jigsaw just takes it to the next level... You will have to wait to see how Jill feels about it," she teases.
In SAW V, David Hackl has taken over directing duties for Darren Lynn Bousman (who directed the previous three), Russell tells us she misses Bousman, but it having a great time with Hackl. "Everyone misses Darren but Hackl is awesome!" She continues, "They are both creative geniuses. Hackl is just more quiet about it."
The SAW franchise is said to go for a total of six films, with five sequels. We asked Russell if she heard that a seventh was in talks, she explains that it;'s up to the fans. "Yes [there will be a seventh SAW] if fans keep wanting more..."
