I've never really listened seriously to them, but Tarja Turunen has an amazing voice. I should probably give their stuff a download at some point.

Videos O_O Oh god, thanks! LimeWire sucks for this stuff, you just saved me lots of work ^.^

Nightwish - though I haven't gotten around to most their stuff - is a great band. Saddly Tarja is no longer with them... I'm hoping they find a good replacement soon. Tuomas wants everythign perfect.

Nightwish are awesome. Worsth thing they did was kick Tarja out though... I'm very interested in who will be replacing her. But really I suppose it's possible, considering Toumas is the real brains behind the operation.

It's the music and Tuomas' beautiful lyrics that makes Nightwish what it is. Anyone can replace Tarja, and could probably do a better job too in the process. It's going to see who replaces her though, that's for sure...

As you can guess simply from looking at my favourite, Nightwish definately sit up there as one of my favourite bands. Hard as I try, I've never been able to find a band who exploit the Symphonic Metal genre as well as they do.

I consider "Ghost Love Score" to be the standard that all other bands of the genre have to live up to. If you can't do it as well as that song... don't even bother.

To this, I counter with Epica, who out do Nightwish in several areas. The thing is, Nightwish do have their beautiful lyrics, while Epic have that 'epic' movie soundtrack feel to their music.

I tried them, as you suggested. I find the music lacking in strenght and the general composition of their songs poor, and the lead female singer's voice is very weak a lot of the time - I'd be suprised if she could even sing like that live.

To each their own, I guess.
