I love Aenima and Lateralus, and Opiate and Undertow are pretty good as well. I keep hearing bad things about 10,000 Days though and I don't want to disappoint myself |

Up untill two years ago or so, Tool was my favourite band. Their place was taken by Dream Theater after seeing those crazy mofos in concert, and since then my interest in them has been steadily declining. I still consider Lateralus one of the, if not the, best CDs I've ever had the pleasure of listening to, but nowadays I can't sit down, shut up, and pay the album the attention it deserves, so me listening to it happens very rarely now. The albums that preceded it are all great too.
A friend of mine bought me 10,000 Days just last week, and needless to say, as Tool albums always take a long time to lose oneself in, I'm not anywhere near familiar with it yet. From the listens I've had so far, it sounds very promising - like Lateralus, Pt. II that will definitely open up with time. Not sure if it will, but I got my fingers crossed. The only immediate negative I can find in it is "Rosetta Stoned", a song that seems unreasonably boring. Perhaps that'll change once I listen to it some more, though - I used to think the same of every single song ('side from "Ticks & Leeches") on Lateralus. <.< |

Hehe, I remember your sick obsession with Tool at one point in your time, Thor, then I remember your sudden burst into the world of Dream Theater. xD Was pretty funny, but also expected from you.
I don't know, Tool don't really do the thing for me. I think they have talent, but I'm not prepared to go in-depth into them after what I heard from off the T.V. |

DT were probably my second favourite band when I was real big on Tool , Adam, but my fanboyism didn't allow me to praise two bands simultaneously. =P
Ecliptica, I thought Tool was the most boring band in the world at first because I didn't know what to expect, and I was too busy wondering why they weren't screaming all the time to pay proper attention to the music. So I guess you have to either be spacing out or focusing intently in order to really get the full Tool experience. Surprisingly, I always stick with the latter. |

I wasn't overly impressed with 10,000 days to be honest. Undertow and Lateralus are my favourite albums. Sober being my all time favourite Tool song. Saw these play live at the download. I didn't ****ing miss a single note |

I play most of their songs on guitar or bass. So, I like most of their stuff. Vicarious, The Pot, Schism, 46 and 2, the works |

Going from Lateralus to 10,000 Days felt like going from a Bob Ross painting to a kids crayon drawing.
I think Lateralus is my favorite. I like the concept and the overall tone of the album. Aenima is a definite second. Undertow and Opiate have their moments.
I would place 10,000 Days in between Aenima and Undertow. It has its moments, but coming after Lateralus and such a long break, I was expecting a lot more, maybe too much.
Anyways, very talented band. |
