Now I know I can't be the only fan on here.
I just love these books. LOVE them. I can reread them over and over.
I love his ability to mix the fantastic and magical with brilliant everyday observational humour. xD His characterisation is just awesome and the world is so well realised, you can just imagine the streets of Ankh-Morpork so well.
I know everyone will have their favourites.. what're yours?
Books:
Reaper Man
Thief of Time
Soul Music
Lords and Ladies (gotta love those evil elves).
Characters:
Death
The Bursar
Nobby Nobbs and Fred Colon
The Luggage
Gytha Ogg
Reaper Man is my all time favourite. It has Death, the hilarious University Faculty, and sentient killer shopping trolleys. I also like the City Watch books - Nobbs and Colon are just pure comedy gold.
So. Discuss. |

I for SOME bizarro reason, have only read one and that was ages ago. However, it still remains a firm favourite in my mind. I dont know whats stopped me from picking up others. This one Mort was recommended by someone, so if you have any other suggestions to throw out there, do so .
Anyway, yes, what a great writer. Not only doe she weave these brilliant stories full of just magic and jizz, but he's also really humorous too.
Yeah, you said it all really. I wont repeat it. |

Brilliant, brilliant series. Soul Music will always be my favourite book. It has Death, and he tries to get drunk.
Besides, Quoth the Raven! |

Charlie - If you liked Mort, I can pretty much guarantee you'll love Reaper Man. Pick it up if you ever see it. Death goes into the real world to live on a farm as a normal person.
SS - Ha, Quoth. xD I love how everyone stops him saying 'the N word'. |

I thought it was him who doesn't want other people to use that word, because when he introduces himself he says something like "No, not that raven."
But I really need to read it again. |

You are certainly not the only fan. Devout Pratchet-aholic (?) here. Currently, my favorite of his is Faust- Eric. Just because as a stand alone story it's the funniest farking thing I've ever read in my life. His take on hell is just brilliant for one thing.
After Eric, I would have to say that it's the Guards I like best. They tend to have the greatest bit characters in them, like Men at arms and the Guild of Jesters and Joculators. There is a scene in that book of a Clown funeral and I swear to gods I nearly wet myself every time I read that.
Death is awsome too, he's definatly among my favorite recuring characters as well as the Wiz(z)ards, (the Dean and senior wrangler being my favorite combination) and the witches. Greatest Bit character I think I will have to nominate as Shaun Ogg of the Lancer Civil service. More accuratly, Shaun Ogg, the entire Lancre Civil service. |

| Love Pratchett. My three favourite books in the series are probably Guards! Guards!, Small Gods and Going Postal. As for characters, most of them are brilliant, but Death and the Librarian are probably my two favourites. Although most of the wizards were fantastic comic relief as well. |

| The first book I read by T.Pratchett was " The Carpet People", it still remains one of my favourite books. Then I read "Mort" which was my favourite book for a very long time. Death is just one of the best characters ever. From there I read "Eric", "Wyrd Sisters" , "Guards, Guards" , "Small Gods" , "Good Omens" , "The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents " <- this I liked a lot too and "Nightwatch". I have some other books which I haven't read because I sort of got tired of this style. |

They all do have a certain style, but to me that makes them all the more appealing. You know what you're getting with a Pratchett.
They're the type of books I can just pick up when I'm bored and haven't got anything in particular to read - easy on the brain. Even if I've read it 10 times, they still make me laugh. |
