the local news reports words losing their meanings
letters dissapearing from the alphabet
while the burning flowers of war burn in our hearts they illuminate
soon the landmines in out chest will go off in time
and explode across the summer sky
i wish, a red liplocked love on every single eye
the white flags of our love seen burning at daybreak
the ashes are used to smother our senses
guided missles of heartbreak steer themselves through this town
around every corner and under every streetlight
toxic leaks from every syllable you wish you spoke
time is golden, so melt it down
todays forecast, the holes in clouds
are minutes passing
cutting through hours
around and around the clock
the second hand beats to much in time
closer to my heartbeat when the bullets rained down
criss crossed the streets
and through the pathways and avenues
mismarked second hand shots
are about as deadly
as the second hand smoke
from the bombs we dropped.
mushroom clouded mystery
debris fill our airways
chokes us until we cant speak
and we can sit and trace lines
of the blueprints of our heart
connect the dots to complete your answer
photocopy the outlines and shred the rest
connect with typewriter keys
as they fall to the ground like red stained teeth
from biting at the veins of those who feed
locked in the basements of our hearts
with the key broken off in the door
connected with the barrel
to feel myself fall through the floor....
now that the bombs have fallen, what have you got to say for yourself?
now that the faith has all faded, do you think you can save yourself?
and now that the hearts have all broken, can you wipe the blood from your hands?
do you think this paper where we draw scribbled smiley faces
to wear as masks can last forever?
tick-tock the clock explodes from a left handed
grenade toss across the parkway
paint the sky in red tonight
because a rain of bullets is right behind. |
