I prefer Dream Theater and Symphony X over most hard core metal and all the sub categories that metal music has. But I must say I like Blind Guardian, Iced Earth and Slayer a whole lot so I wouldn't say I totally reject it.

depends what you mean by heavy vocals. i usualy do but not if they get carried away. theres a big difference between singing and flat out screaming. i prefer singing.

yeah I prefer stuff like Dream theater, but I guess if the music is good enough I can overlook the vocals.. I really don't like pantera's vocal but they are still one of my favorite bands.. and bands like iced earth and angra are pretty new to me so I really can't judge them but so far they are pretty interesting..
