Today I went to see the new Disney movie "Holes." Many people already know the story, seeing as how it was required reading in schools. I walked into it thinking "OH MY GOD! Lets go see Phone Booth! PLEEEEEASE!!!!!!" we sat down, had great seats, the theater wasn't too full of people and no one was noisy (i yelled at one person to turn off the damn cell phone, but that's besides the point). So the movie started and i was just thinking..."what the hell?! who would be interested in this?!" but as the movie went on, i grew to love it.
It has a lot to do with friendship, acceptance and hard work. In the beginning, you see camp greenlake...lemme tell you it's not very green...and i never saw a lake. Anyways, in the very beginning, you find out a bit of how terrible it is...seeing as how a kid wants to be bit by a rattlesnake so he can go home...pretty bad huh? Then you see Stanley (Shia La Beof) walking down the street. he gets hit in the head by a pair of shoes and is arrested for the robbery of them. This is caused because of this family curse. After seeing the judge, he has the decision of going to jail or to a "character building facility" called Camp Greenlake. Everyday, each person is expected to dig one hole, 5 feet deep and 5 feet in diameter...looking for something "interesting" untill one day...someone does...
The story takes three stories and shows how they all mix in together to become one.
I walked out of the movie asking my mom if we could go to Borders (a music and book store). My mom asked, "to get the soundtrack?" my sis chimmed in and said, "YEAH!" but I replied with "...no...to get the book..." and she was shocked. i hate to read...over analyzing stuff at school takes the fun out of reading anything for me. I really loved this movie though. i thought it was fantastic.
If anyone was wondering about it...wether they should see it or not...definately yes. it was worth it. The cast was excellent as well. Shia La Beof gave another stunning performance in this movie. |

I read the book. In the book man, some of the characters aren't as mean (Mr. Pendanski) and the ending is way different in the book. I think they are both a plus, but I think the Book is better louis sachar=best fictional writer |

Oh my Gosh, Kir has gone Holes crazy. xP The previews make the movie look so.. gay, but people tell me it's pretty good for a 'young-adults' movie. Hmn, also, my Dad said the book owned, so I'll have to check that out.
I hope this movie is worth the six bucks. :P~ |
