Creative  Ask Adanedhel!

Noticing the Graphics forum has users selling their Photoshop abilities, I applied my mental acuity towards the goal of gaining filthy lucre, to no avail, until recently.

Now, I shall use one of my few expressions of talent to some good on this forum to gain ever more money.

Thus, Ask Adanedhel! I will field any question you may have for a certain amount of money, with the price depending on the type of question. If you wish a question answered, simply post it here and transfer the funds. Once I see that I have them, I will field your question. If I cannot answer it, then I will refund the money. Guaranteed, I will never answer a question if I do not know it, nor will I give a wrong answer out. If that happens, I will double the refund.

Price list:
Factual Knowledge and Information - 1 rp (ex: Who was the King of England during the American Revolution?)

Video Game Tips and Help - 3 rp (ex: How do I beat the final boss in Final Fantasy IV?)

Tech Support - 3 rp (ex: How in the hell do I program my VCR?)

Questions Requiring Paragraph Answers - 5 rp (ex: How did Albert Einstein affect the field of Physics with his Theory of Relativity?)

Mathematical Questions - 10 rp (ex: What is the first derivative of 10x^2 - 5x + 2?)

Philosophical Questions - 50 rp (ex: What is the meaning of life?)

Please, no questions with answers I possibly couldn't know. (ex: What is the name of my stuffed dog that I sleep with every night?)

Also, if I answered especially well, I take tips!

So, please, ask away!

You'll just say you don't like my answer and refuse to give me the cash!

Besides, I am a person of honor, and I would never simply take the money and not answer. Even if I did, you could always sic afterlab on me. Anyways, if you REALLY don't like the answer and insist on having your money back, then I'll give it back. Reluctantly.

I am also a man of honor, hence, I will pay your 50 RP.

Edit: I donated 5,000 RP as a one time fee, so I can ask nearly unlimited questions whenever I feel like it.

Indeed. I will respect that fee, but nobody else had better expect to do it!

Anyways, here is your answer:

The meaning of life is what you make of it. In a world where there is supposedly one consensual reality and no determined purpose, in a world where everyone and everything vies for your attention and pretends to give you an answer to the emptiness inside, in a world where madness and dreams can be as real for the dreamer as reality is for the one awake, there is no set answer except for the one you give yourself.

There is no absolute principle that says that the reality that we find ourselves in is real, or even functional. There is no vantage point to compare it to. For all we know, we may be inside of a dream, we may be figments of your imagination. Because we are limited worms writhing in the dust, we are unable to grasp the true definition of our reality.

Thus, many invent their own defintions. God is one. Money is another. Family, interaction, progress, civilization: all of these are good idols to prop up in front of the altar of your life in an attempt to give your existance some sort of rationalization.

A number of people discover this question through the contemplation of death, and just as many only find an answer through the acceptance of death.

Even so, all the reasons for giving life meaning stated above may be true. The thing that lends them truth is the strength of your belief. If you truly believe with all of your heart that God has made a place in heaven for you when you die, then it is true for you. If you truly believe with all of your heart that status is everything, and status is measured by wealth, then you will be happy when you are the richest man in the world.

There is your answer; there is your meaning of life. You can take it or leave it, but ultimately the answer is up to you, and this is merely a step to finding it on the ever-winding path of life.

A final adage, however: the whole point to finding a meaning of life is to rationalize the reason for your existance, but I would like to ask: should there be such a rationalization? Is it necessary? Does it make us happy?

That good enough for you?

My personal belief is a mixture of atheism and Taoism/Buddhism. You see, when people die, depending on the karma of their spirits (that being determined by what kind of life they lived), their soul goes to either a new body, or discontinues circulation upon Earth. When someone is born, by random, a wandering spirit is placed into the body.

Every person is given a chance to continue living over and over again until they come to the realization of what the purpose of life is, somewhat like "Groundhogs Day", if you will. Meaning, eventually, you must come to the realization that the foundation of life is not based upon money, power, and lying, which are things people are rewarded for in this day and age, but no matter, after death, you will continue to live until you come to this realization.

Hence, there is no true PURPOSE of life. People in general are much too dynamic to reach one specific realization, however, the thing you must come to understand is that life isn't all about money and power. It's things like friendship, happiness, and divinity.

Also, one more thing. I think that the insitution of the Church is basically corrupt, as are many people in them -- not all, but many. I also don't think that there is one God. That's kind of retarded. If there even was such a thing, I think it would be like a group. No one person can control everything.

Those are some interesting ideas you have Sano! But I must say that you are probably right on most of the points you have hit on.

And thus, that is your meaning of life. It is your dogma, it is what you uphold, what you believe. Thus, it is your meaning. Does that make it absolute truth? No. That simply makes it yours, as you see it. Perhaps, as a result, you will be reborn, because that is what you chose to believe in this life. Or perhaps not.

The point is that you have adopted that as your meaning of life, and so it is, just as the businessman adopts Mammon as his life-purpose. That doesn't mean either of you are absolutely correct; on the contrary, you both are, because you see it to be so.

Agreed, the Church in the Roman-Catholic sense is corrupt, but that doesn't mean that it hasn't done any good, nor will it never do any good again.

Also, I think it is the idea of one person controlling everything that makes the conception of God so awesome to so many. If there is one entity responsible for all of this, then certainly he is someone to worship.

As for my personal beliefs, I will keep those private, though I will say that I am a student of the world and of all faiths, and have tried to become somewhat intimate with all of them.

Personally, I'm not into religion, or praying, or anything like that. When people look at the world, they see so many horrible things. Mass-death, war, disease, destruction, starvation, the Ice-capades. People need something to believe in, so they create "God". Someone who they can talk to and believe in. It's like deluding yourself in some sort of fanciful dream. And nowadays, people just exploit religion by scaring people and forcing them to "Donate money in the name of Jesus" or you'll "burn in eternal hellfire", etc.

Once again, these are just my beliefs/ideas. Not pressing them on anybody, but take them into consideration when reading.
