I was recently arrested for driving under the influence of marijuana, possession of a gram of marijuana, and possession of a meerschaum pipe containing marijuana residue. My court date is on monday and I have been concerned about being sentenced to probation or 'conditional discharge', seeing as that would forbid me from leaving the state to attend my school in California.
However I was watching Miracle on 34th Street and was inspired to outsmart the law. In the film the United States Postal Service begins to deliver letters addressed to Santa Claus to the protagonist. They use this in court to verify the sanity of the protagonist by providing evidence that a branch of the federal government recognises that the person of Santa Claus exists in the protagonist.
So the sun dawned onto me through my gorgeous window frame, and I had the thought that if I were to file a change of address form before my court date that I could provide evidence that the United States Postal Service recognises my preestablished California residency. I have so filed and now have documentation of my California residency.
Hopefully it works, and the Municipal Court of New Brunswick can suck my brilliant cock. However, even if it does not work, you should all rep me.

the stupidity of being caught effectively cancels out the excellence of your idea, so even if i were to rep you, i would immediately have to negrep you as well. i will abstain.
good luck with the trial.

It's not his fault he got caught

Yeah, what the fuck? You're an idiot. If there was anything stupid about being caught, the fact that I got caught invalidates the notion that it requires stupidity, seeing as it is a quality of which I am incapable.

it's not as though i was completely serious, but if you want to be technical, it was stupid to go anywhere. i'm sure it would have been avoided had you simply remained on your couch like most stoners.

There is no risk in driving while under the influence of marijuana. A 1993 study by the United States Department of Transportation reports only effects which are no more significant than medicinal drugs under the influence of which it is legal to drive. There being a law against it is utter nonsense.

your personal disapproval of the law is irrelevant. if anything, it only demonstrates your awareness of the law's existence, making your transgression even less excusable.

The point was that being pulled over is equally improbable whether or not you are high.

There is absolutely no sense in obeying unjust laws, apart from simple concern over legal penalties. Laws against victimless crimes help no one and breaking them should not be a social taboo.

There is sense in obeying them because you don't have this kind of shit happen to you then.

Obsidian Tides doesn't smoke weed, speed, pirate music or set off awesome fireworks. Just ignore him; he's taking the discussion in a pretty useless direction. We all know that smoking weed is perfectly fine and we all know that driving while high is perfectly fine, but that's the conversation he wants to have.

he's saying its stupid to get caught, and I agree. I've been smoking since I was in high school and I've never been caught doing it by the police. I have no idea how you would.

I've never been caught but I can imagine how someone might just have shitty luck and get pulled over for something. I don't know where you live, Lye, but I live out in the country and if a cop pulls over a teenager at night they will do whatever it takes to search your car.

In fact, a few weeks ago I very nearly got pulled over with a bag of weed in my pocket. The only reason the cop was following us was because he pulled up by us at a red light and saw we were three teenagers driving around at midnight.

yeah, I've never had problems with cops before. not big problems. i think that if you live in a city and arn't black they just let you go because they have other shit to worry about. I've been caught doing all kinds of shit, like trespassing, fighting, being drunk in public when i was 17. I got caught breaking into my highschool, which is right next to a police station, and I always find a way to get out of it. you just got to know how to talk to them.
and I've never had a cop search my car. I used to drive home drunk from canada all the time between the age of 19 and 21, and I crossed back once without a birth certificate and I couldn't find my license. they were just like "fuck it."
In fact I got caught in security trying to fly home from florida last month with a fucking 15 inch buck knife in my bag, and i didn't get any fingers in my butt or even miss my flight. I just explained the goofy story of how it got there and expressed concern over the fact that they didn't find it when I flew down out of the detroit airport. I don't know. I actually pretty awesome now that i think about it.
I just dont see why you would be smoking while driving, not that theres anything wrong with it, or how you would give the police a reason to search your car, unless youre acting super high.

indeed, i only congratulated him for finding a way out of a situation he put himself into in the first place. he lashed out assuming there was some sort of higher argument involved.

I wouldn't exactly say he lashed out, he disagreed with you it's not like he called your mum a cunt or something.
