In hopes of generating interest in Actual Roleplaying *gasshp* in the soon-to-be-released Final Fantasy 11, some friends and I have started a group to be called the "Hunters of the Winter Moon". All that we ask is that you be creative, and make a background and personality for your FFXI Character to play, so that we can make it an actual Final Fantasy, not just another Online Graphical MUD.
What is this club thread about? We'll discuss characters and histories for now, take any applications... and probably chat just like every other club. I've been working on my iron fist, but I'm still at the "declawed kitten paw" stage.  To answer a few questions now, I'll tell you a bit about what I plan:
What is this clan, "Hunters of the Winter Moon" about?
Well, we intend to be a relaxed, friendly clan. We will not require hours of play time, mandatory meetings, or anything of the sort. What we intend to provide is a group of like-minded individuals, loosely grouped together, but with the capability of banding together in large numbers for specific quests or events, which we hope to eventually run to encourage solidarity within the clan. Something that a number of us are focusing on is roleplaying.
Roleplaying?
Yes. One of the main reasons cited for the popularity for the Final Fantasy series is the character design and storyline. However, no longer will we be constrained by conversation trees and a guided story, where we move from one plot point to the next, with only side-quests to disract us. And yet, where would FF7 have been without Cloud's self-denial, Tifa's loyalty, Sephiroth's insanity? Without Aeris's martyrdom? Without all of that, the story could not have existed. This time around, however, Squaresoft is not telling us the personality for the characters, is not telling us where we should go next. We have free will. But is it enough just to kill the monsters, and find better equipment?
The group of us is not satisfied with just that. What we intend to do is this: we each are crafting a history and personality for the character we shall play within the game. While playing, we will react to situations, have conversations, and make descisions based on that character's personality, instead of our own. By doing such, we hope not to just play a game with pretty visuals, but craft a story with the actions of our online selves.
We have also finally decided upon a fitting clan motto:
"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss you will land among the stars." I believe it speaks for itself. Thanks go to Les Brown for writing it, and Dragon Claw for suggesting it! (and Crius for correcting me on who it should be attributed to)
Who are the clan officers?
As of now, there is only one; myself (Lorelei)
Lorelei (also known as the "Scarlet Dragon") will be the clan Seneschal. I will be responsible for handling any disputes between knighthoods, as well as holding and organizing the clan armoury.
That is all, for now. We will add positions as necessary. As we add knighthoods into the clan, the leader of each of those knighthoods, known as a "Knight Superior" will also be a clan officer.
Knighthoods?
The way we are organizing the clan is thus: Each member of the clan will be inducted into one of the knighthoods present in the clan. Each knighthood will have its own leader and, thereby, their own outlook. There may be knighthoods of "evil" characters only, or ones devoted to attaining the strongest characters as soon as possible. By segmenting the clan thus, we can easily have a niche available for all types of players.
What are the knighthoods?
As of yet, we do not have any. However, as soon as any are formed, we will make a list right here, with the knighthoods' mottos and descriptions.
What server and city will you be headquartered in?
That has not yet been decided, but we can certainly discuss it here.
