Your FFR home for Roleplaying

Introduction
On the old FFRepublic there was a club called Roleplaying Xtreme. That club was ran by a member called Comrade Crowley. It was very successful and ran for a good amount of time. It allowed members interested in text-based roleplaying to chat with each other about it, arrange battles and help each other improve their skills. Since then Comrade Crowley has left FFRepublic, and his second in command (Lennon Legend) is no longer interested in roleplaying. Therefore I decided to take up the helm and create a new RP’ing club, which is this: Roleplaying Central.
About RPC
RPC is a club where members can come and chat about text-based roleplaying and about other RP’ers. They can also arrange battles here or ask for one of the more experienced members who have been given the status of trainer within the club to help train them so that they can improve.
What is roleplaying?
Roleplaying is where you act out a story or a battle using a character that you have created. In this case it is done by text, although as Im sure you know there are other forms of roleplaying. RP posts are usually written in third-person form. You can write them in other forms, but it is a lot easier to write and to understand what is going on if it is in third-person. Its also a lot more interesting to read. In an RP post you write about the setting around you and what your character is doing. You are only able to control the actions of your character, and any non-playable characters. You cannot control the actions of the character of the people or person you are RP'ing with. This is known as god modding. A copy of RPing rules can be found here, and a copy of the RPB rules can be found here. You should also read through the other stickied threads in the Roleplaying Terminal as some of them are very helpful.
What do I need to become a member?
All you need is to enjoy roleplaying, and be willing to take criticism in order to learn and improve your ability. This means you should also be willing to train in order to improve. If you cant take the criticism then you cant learn from your mistakes and so will probably not improve your ability. If you have a bio then post it up in the character bios forum, and post a link here. If you dont have a bio and wish to create one on your own then feel free to do so. This thread will help you a lot with creating a character so make sure you read it through.
How do I become a trainer?
In order to become a trainer you must first pass a trainer initiation program. This can either be an RPB (roleplaying battle) against one of the other trainers, or you can give us a link to a past RP that you have posted in. If we consider you good enough to train others then you will be made a trainer. If we feel that you aren’t ready to be a trainer yet though, don’t be disheartened. All this means is that we think you need a bit more experience and practice yourself before we’ll let you train others.
What do trainers have to do?
Trainers will be expected to give other members pointers on how to RP better so that they can improve. You can do this in any way you think is best, as everyone has their own different strategies for training others. All we ask is that you give constructive criticism, and be patient (they aren’t going to somehow become an awesome RP’er over night).
What makes a good RP’er?
A decent RP’er must have a good grasp on the English language. This means that their spelling, punctuation and grammar must all be at least readable and understandable. The best way to ensure this is to use a program such as Microsoft Word while writing your posts. A wide range of vocabulary is also important so that you don’t keep using the same words. Otherwise your post could sound very monotonous and so seem boring. There is a thesaurus option within Word, which helps a lot with this. A decent RP’er must also have a good imagination so that they can write interesting and original posts. This is a lot more important and the length of a persons post. Another main factor is realism. In a real battle a person would suffer injuries of some kind o another. If you go through a whole battle without suffering injuries or becoming tired, then it isnt very realistic, and can become very annoying for your opponent. Even though RP's are usually fantasy based, your character would still not be able to dodge every single attack that came their way. Be fair. At the end of the day, it isnt the character left standing at the end that wins the battle, its the person who was the better RP'er. Finally, have fun! If you aren’t enjoying the RP then there’s really no point in being part of it.

I should have my biography up shortly. It's nothing special or too long, it's just got enough information to RP against. |

| I will do. You should ask about, see if you can get a logo made for the place. I can post it up in my guild then, and also members can put it in their signature. Not everyone views clubs much in the opening month or so, so we could be in for a slow start. |

Hullo hullo ^_^
Turks told me to post a link to my bio, so here it is;
Shenorai's Lounge of RP Characters
It's ridiculously long, but that's because it's two bios merged. Bear with me on that... ^^;
On another note, I've got photoshop...just give me the lengthxwidth and an idea of the type of pictures to use and I'll see what I can do. |

Welcome aboard. If you think thats long, check out my second bio.
As for the image, for a small banner for the club I thin a good size would be about the width of your sig, and about half the height. As for a the image, I dont have a clue. I was justing thinking about that myself. Maybe some sort of anime characters having a battle or one of them with a sword or something. I dunno really. Just try something out, and I'll try something out and we can post them up and see which one is most appropriate. |
