In the snowy realms of the Antartic, is a palace. The most beautiful palace the world has ever seen, this palace is made completely of ice. Centuries ago, a powerful wizard cast a spell over the palace and the city that surrounds it. This spell allowed it's inhabitants to withstand the harsh cold of the land. And so the palace has grown stronger over the many years. This palace is the home of the great Emperor Winter Nights. He is the ruler over this great land. Loved by his people and feared by his enemies, his rule became the strongest this Ice Empire had ever seen.
Unbeknownst to the great leader, a Fire Empire plotted against the palace and, in the dead of night, raided the Ice Empire. The citizens were drove out and Winter Nights was forced to flee his throne. And so the palace remained abandoned for a great length of time. Occassionally, citizens would travel to the palace, in hopes of finding their former leader, who had vanished after the raid. But it seemed, this empire was lost forever....
Then, many years later, several travelers reported seeing a light emitting from the throne room window of the palace. Curious, his dearest friends and trusted officials returned to the palace. They were greeted by a group of priests. And on the throne.... Winter Nights.
After the raid, Emperor Nights had sought the guidance of the great goddess, Shiva. He prayed daily at the Temple of the Ice Goddess. His devotion led him to become High Priest. But after several years, his answer came. In a vision, Shiva urged him to take the priests and return the his palace. She promised that as long as his faith was pure, his empire would flourish for as long as he lived. And so, encouraged by the vision, Winter and his clergy travelled to the palace and awaited the arrival of his citizens. And one by one, they came. And as promised, the Ice Empire flourished once again. Later, Winter Nights took Princess as his beautiful Empress. Together, they rule happily over the peaceful land. But soon, Princess died.... So Winter Nights was livin' the single life with his peeps of the castle. He also did away with his clergy and hired special "priestesses" to "guide" his men in their "faith". Then, he realized that EccentricChocobo was all the woman he needed. Thus, a new Empress was crowned.
