Duel of the veterans

------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the sun slowly raised its warm glow beat down upon the world of the Final Fantasy Republic. People started their daily routines, the shops opened their door’s for business and people were hustling about the streets.
Just another day in the republic for most but not for Iggy, No this day would prove different,
for today he would once again travel to a new world in hopes of meeting new people and learning more of the universe around him.
After his morning exercise in the garden, Iggy went into town to gather up supplies for the journey.
Upon entering at the republic harbor, he made his way through the busy streets to the General store. Upon entering the dark, dusty run full of equipment and various items, he ran into old friend’s Turk and Qustis.

“Good morning yall, sorry I can’t stay long today. But I’m going off on a field mission to explore a newly found world today.”

He said as the store keeper gathered up his small list of items for him.
The three stood around and did small talk until the store clerk brought out a bag full of the requested items.
Iggy reached into his pocket, pulling out 55 republic credits he paid the man and then said goodbye to his friends and headed out to the other side of town.
At this time the morning had gotten into full swing and the streets were full of people going to and fro, he slowly pushed his way through the madness until he reached the small boat waiting for him at the harbor. His faithful droid, WD-40 beeped and popped as he sat his grocery bag into the ship and then climbed in the only chair on board.
The engines made a screech as they quickly propelled the small craft back towards The Sage temple.

Upon arriving there, Iggy and WD-40 exited the boat and went into the huge structure.
As they passed the many training halls and study rooms, they were greeted by the other sages and visitors that had studying in its great halls.
Walking into the cone shaped elevator, Iggy pressed the button that would take them to the 325th floor. Which happen to be the aerial platform where all of the Star fighters and mechanical bays were housed.
It was but a few seconds until the doors slid open and the sunlight beamed in on Iggy through the hanger opened bay.
Walking the small steel walkway towards the right side of the hanger, Iggy reached into his pocket and pulled out a small remote. Pressing the button his triangular starship slowly raised on the circler hover pad up to the level he was standing on, opening the small storage compartment Iggy laid his supplies in the bins he had marked for each category.
Shutting the hatch, he then helped WD-40 into the Droid socket located on the right wing assemble. WD-40 then turned on the main subsystems and opened the ****pit allowing Iggy climb in a buckle himself into the pilot’s seat.
Turning on the main fusion core, the engines slowly emitted an orange hue as they warmed up.

“Come in command tower, this is Iggy Lightjuno. Requesting permission to leave republic space, over.

The tower gave him the go ahead and the hanger bay’s huge glass door opened, the circler pad that the ship was on then rode the conveyer belt out of the Temple onto a take off pad hovering a mere 50 feet away.
Taking a hold of the control stick, Iggy then turned the engines up to half impulse power. The Jets turned a bright yellow as the craft slowly begin to rise into the air, turning 180 degrees; the craft then shot up at a 40 degree angle and headed out into the sky.

“Ok WD-0, when we leave republic space set a course for long-seedkain.”

The droid’s head turned towards the ****pit and he beeped in agreement with Iggy’s request.
In a few short moments they had left the atmosphere and were just a few hundred miles away from the Republic planet, pressing a few buttons on the control panel Iggy threw the switch that would take him and his into hyper-space.
The ship’s engines mad a low roar as they prepared to make the jump into the warp zone, after Iggy and WD-40 set the coordinates for the planet he then activated the warp drive.
The entire galaxy seemed to swirl around them as the ship then accelerated in a burst of speed, the ship then disappeared in a bright flash of light.

“Next stop, long-seedukain…. This will be most interesting”

Iggy said as the cobalt blue streaks of light flew by the window, Iggy then relaxed back into his seat as they tumbled through the worm hole towards their destination.

森林惑星の到着

A few hours past and Iggy was now in deep meditative state, he let his mind wonder…
he thought about the planet he was fixing to visit, what did it look like? Were their people on it? And if so were they friendly or savage?
Suddenly an alarm went off in the ship’s control center console, WD-40 started whistle and buzz loudly.
”AH, we are here. WD-40 take the ship out of warp and then turn on manual controls, I want to pilot us down my self.”
WD-40 then clicked, and the vortex they were in slowly stopped spinning as the constant streams of light started to slowly fade away revealing stars and planets around them, returning to normal space; Iggy saw the beautiful Dark green planet in front of him.
Turning the ship and a slightly left hand bank, he then proceeded to enter the atmosphere and hopefully find a place to land.
The atmosphere was thick with cloud cover and visibility was horrible, taking his best guess Iggy tried to get as low as he could in hoped of getting below the clouds and surveying the planet from above.
Lowering altitude, he dropped below the clouds and a beautiful forest planet greeted him as he looked out of his ****pit.
Checking the scanners, everything read green on the life support systems.
The air was fresh, gravity was normal and according to the aft scanner there was native life as well.

Bringing the ship down a pleasant looking meadow, Iggy began to land.
The landing gear slowly opened as the craft leveled off and gently begin its descent.
Gently the ship softly landed, its landing sinking slightly into the ground indicating that the ground was very fertile and rich.
Hoping out of the ship, Iggy sat foot on the soil and looked around.

“Amazing, this place appears to be an unaltered state. Very tranquil, WD-40, stay here with the ship and keep it stand by.”

WD-40 complied and shut the ****pit for Iggy, the engines slowly whined down as most of the systems went offline.
Walking off to the west, Iggy surveyed the area as he went. Streams of crystal clear water ran beside the fields of wheat and wild flowers, knelling down at the stream Iggy took a tube and gathered some water in it. Inserting this into a small socket in his gauntlet Iggy then pressed a button as the machine analyzed the water sample.
Four lights lit up green, indicating that is were safe to drink. Kneeling down again Iggy took his hands and cupped them as he took a drink from the stream.

“Astounding, this is some of freshest water I have ever drunk. I wonder why it took the republic and Sages so long to find this planet. It is a class K planet so it’s big enough to be picked up on the subspace scanners and sensor arrays.”

Iggy pondered this as he made his way to a rock formation up on a hill over looking a huge area of the surface world.
Setting down on the rock, Iggy saw a flock of doves pass below him in the valley.
A waterfall was roaring slightly to his right and a small rock trail lead down into the valley to his left.
Out of all of this beauty tough, Iggy couldn’t help but feel he wasn’t alone, Taking hold of his pendent, he then said the words needed to activate his armour.

Schlacht-Rüstung Aktivieren!”

The pendent glowed a bright white glow as the armour slowly formed around him, setting his visor for infrared mode; he scanned the area for any signs of life. Finding nothing but only native forest animal’s this troubled him eve more.
Pressing a button on the side of his helmet, the visor slide up and into the top of his helmet allowing him to survey the scene with his own eyes.
Checking the tempura node on his arm computer it registered a mild 69 degrees out, perfect for wondering about and investigating the area.

As the day wore on Iggy traveled a good three or four miles from where he had landed.
Gazing down at his arm computer, it was exactly 2:30pm republic time.
He stomach slowly growled as he came to rest near a clump of brushes deep in the valley he had been looking at earlier.

“Well, I think it’s about time for a snack I do believe.”

Iggy laughed as he reached into his bag and pulled out a loaf of honey bread wrapped up in cheese cloth.
Taking his pocket knife he sliced off a hunk of the delicious sticky bread, he then proceeded to eat as a lonely cloud formation passed over him blocking the sun temporarily.
After resting a good 30 minutes he was back on his feet and heading towards a small lake he had seen from his ship during his descent to the planet, walking along a small creek bed. Iggy had that feeling again, as though someone was near him. Placing his hand on the hilt of his sword, Iggy quickly looked around but saw nothing. Quickly going through his many visual modes in his visor, Iggy didn’t see anything out of the way. Until his switched to “particle” mode, which is able to detect rips in the space-time continuum and portals to the other realms.
The visor’s display outlined the rip in bright red as the alert system went off; Iggy then pressed a few buttons on is arm computer and noticed that the rip was flocculating rapidly. He knew this only meant one thing…..

“Oh by, that’s not good. Something or someone is coming through that portal.”

Not knowing whether or not this would be a friendly or hostile creature, Iggy drew his blade and got into attack position.
A few minutes past and then suddenly something did come through, flying at high speed towards Iggy; he slashed it with his sword successfully splitting the object in two.
Walking over to where it was, Iggy saw that it was nothing more than a coconut.

“I am relieved, but still. How does a coconut get sent through a space vortex?”

Upon looking around with his particle mode active, he noticed that the valley was a huge portal magnet. For as soon as one would close another one would open, keeping at a continual rate. At this time the sun was going down, knowing never to wonder at night Iggy made camp in a small alcove in the rock until morning.
That night the sounds of wild animals and creatures sounding hundreds of times bigger than him filled the night air.
The next morning he awoke, climbing down from the alcove Iggy washed his face in the local stream running towards the lake he was heading to.
Suddenly a wild boar of monstrous size appeared out of no where and charged at Iggy, Jumping out of the way Iggy reached behind his back and pulled out his pistol.
Firing a 700 grain slug at the boar, he dropped just feet away from Iggy dead.
After skinning and eating the boar for breakfast, Iggy headed off towards the lake.
However along his way he heard the sound of a space portal opening up, this was different though. It stayed open longer than normal, and after it was closed he heard smoothing.
After walking a few feet, Iggy heard the sounds that had come from the portal again. Except this time foot steps were accompanied by the closing of the portal.
Reaching for his sword, Iggy pulled it from the scabbard and continued walking towards the lake; however he heard the foot steps again.

“I wonder who this realm traveler is? Hopefully if he is hostile I can get the draw on him first”

Iggy finally made it to the huge lake, its glass like surface shinned in the sunlight of early morning. However Iggy could not rest well until he had confronted the stranger he heard warp to the planet earlier…….
