Ok, ok, before you get all bent out of shape and start flaming me here me out.
There are several striking similarities in my view between the current Bush Administration, and Hitler's Third Reich.
Power Grab-Adolf Hitler made his way into power by convincing the German government to re-hold the elections, pretty much muscled his way into power. Bush did the same. In the much contested Nov.2000 Presidential elections Bush's brother, the governor of the state of Florida, had state troopers block the way for many African-American voters to the polls, who would most likely mean strong votes for Gore. But the real crime here is the fact that Bush was appointed by a biased Supreme Court, some had been appointed by Reagan, and some had buisness connections with Bush. Makes a mockery of our elections doesn't it?
Using Fear And Paranoia As An Excuse-After the Reichstag Fire of 1933, Hitler bullied the German Parliament into passing a new security bill authorizing him to suspend civil rights in the event of a national emergency. Following this same line after 9/11 the Bush Admin./John Ashcroft introduced a bill to Congress known as the PATRIOT ACT of 2001, a bill which gives Federal authorites more leeway for electronic surveillance, access to phone and library records without a subpeona(spelling?), and the right to search a suspect's home without a Search Warrant and not inform him for up to 90 days. In May of 2002 Ashcroft gave the FBI even more leeway when he gave them the right to infiltrate and spy on Political Dissent groups, and Religious organizations without having to provide reasonable cause of suspicion. Over 4,000 Arab Americans were detained after September 11th, and over 1200 are still in custody, their names unreleased, with no charges filed, and no acess to legal counsel. So much for due process. We even have an American(Jose Padilla) being held indefinitely as an "enemy combatant".
Corporate Fascism and Crushing Dissent-George W. Bush's Administration is undoubtedly the most Corporate in the history of the United States. Every appointee of Bush from National Security Adviser Condoleeza Rice to Secretary of the Treasury Paol O'Neill have corporate backgrounds. Considering the Corporate monopoly over Media in this country it could be assumed(and highly likely) that these people who control our Media wll give a corporately biased slant. Michael Powell, Chairman of the FCC is helping to move our national media into a one-voice propoganda machine by allowing the flood of communications and media merges occuring right now. Examples of this are the Time Warner and AOL mergers, and the SBC and Yahoo! mergers. Self-censorship in the self-interest of obtaining a career and dodging criticism plays a large role in this, after 9/11 the Media jumped right on the bandwagon with a furor of ultra-Patriotism, fear-mongering stories related to terrorist threats, xenophobic and unnacurate depictions of Islam, and by immediately adopting Orwellian speech like "War On Terror" and "Homeland Security". Also the Corporate Media is making an attempt to drown out growing dissent for an attack on Iraq by not covering many of the large demonstrations being held around the country and by playing down the ones they do cover, which isolates the masses opposed to it by making them think "most other people must not have this opinion I do of it, so maybe I ought to keep it to myself". An example of this is that on Thursday Night after Congress approved a War Resolution, an emergency demonstration was held in San Francisco when about 500 people blocked employee's entry to a Federal building and actually entered it and held a sit-in demonstration, and a stand-off between them and police occured that lasted several hours. But it didn't even make national news.
Orwellian Language- After 9/11 President Bush adoped BLATANTLY Propogandic and Orwellian language such as "War on Terror", "Evil doers", "Homeland Security", and "Axis of Evil" as well as the tactic of cloaking everything he does in Patriotism. In 2001 he even created a new agency, the Office for Awareness of Information. Just like Hitler's Agency for the Enlightenment of the People it is nothing more then an office to spread lies and propoganda related to the Bush Administration's policies.
The War Machine-Since 9/11 George W. Bush has deployed U.S. troops to topple the Taliban Regime in Afghanistan, and he has deployed Green Berets to Georgia, the Phillippines, and Colombia on combat training missions. He of course is gearing up for an illegal war in Iraq as we speak, and has just had his War rubber-stamped by Congress, because if you take the time to look at the language of the Resolution it says "neccessary steps to prevent further aggression and hostility toward American interests in the region" doesnt say Iraq, it says REGION. Which legally permits Bush to invade ANY country in the region. Congress has basically succeeded the War powers to the Executive Branch and passed a legislation that will legally alow Bush to invade all of the Mid East with no further Congressional approval. It's like the Tonkin Gulf Resolution all over again. Congress just hurled 354 BILLION in funds at the Pentagon and more is expected. The Military budget now takes up one sixth of the ENTIRE Federal budget, and for those of you who don't know there is already legislature underway to bring back the draft called HR 3598 "Universal Military Training and Service Act of 2001" preposed in the House by Smith of Michigan and Weldon of Pennyslvania which requires all males between the ages of 18 and 22 signed up under the Selective Service Act to recieve military training. And it is a fact that there are more U.S. troops deployed overseas then EVER.
Please read this article over, and respond intelligently, I don't want any bonehead half-baked responses, I will ignore them. |

I would usually type up a giant explenation of why what you said is wrong, but it seems I'm laughing far to hard to type well.
I suppose you also want the phrase, "One nation, under god" removed from the pledge of allegeince as well? I guess another wonderful reason Hitler=Bush is the fact they both had short hair, and spoke with their mouths. I think they also washed their hands, and ate chicken once in a while. ( FIRM EVIDENCE THAT BUSH = THIRD REICH JUST IN --- THEY BOTH ENJOYED PLANES. )
I'm no patriot, but I have enough sense to be disgusted at such a horrible acusation (even if its a joke). I'm not a huge fan of Bush either, but he's doing a crappy job at the moment. I think he needs to chill out over Iraq a tiny bit, but overall he has done a fine job considered he was hit with Economic Fall/ War/ Terrorist attack only a few months into his presidentcy.
****, I think I need to go look in the mirror. Hitler also had a mustache, I think have one as well :/ ( ME = HITLER?) . Oh well, Alvieterzain~!! |

I intelligently laid out factual legislations and happenings in the country to prove my point, I did not say anything halfbaked like "They both have short hair" like you are mocking me with. If you are so intelligent, then try to dissprove some of the factual information I used in this article rather then dodge my accusations. |

Your information is valid -- but calling the bush adminstration the fourth reich is the biggest load of **** I've heard sence the new Michael Jackson album.
Incase you don't know, there is a little thing call CONGRESS and the SENATE in America. Power is checked evenly between the houses, and if the president does ANYTHING unconstutional he can be impeached ( judical branch) or the bill could be vetoed. America is doing fairly well, and unlike nazi germany ( who was copeing from the treaty of versallies (SP) a treaty that was TERRIBLE on them, and pushed the german people into desperation for a strong goverment; and freedom from the unjust rules they were under ) the citizens of America are over all very happy with their lives. You wouldn't see them defected to start any sort of regime. Most people don't care enough about polotics these days. Morale decline is a factor of that of corse. |

Well in my opinion, apathy can lead to such regimes, politically. Also it seems to me in the post-9/11 world America IS looking for their government to be stronger, and by doing this they are opening the door for violations of their Civil Liberties. Although it is sad that a poll by CBS a while back showed that 49 percent of the American people thought that the First Ammendment went "too far" in protecting free speech.
I've decided I was being a bit too harsh by labeling Bush the "Fourth Reich", because it is not that extremist. Although you must recognize that this is a new kind of Fascism, a little thing called Corporatism. A type of Fascism where technically our Government is still democratic but our Politicans are dominated by Cororate Buisness interests and our Executive Brand made up of just that, former executives who work in the favor of the privalidged minority against the majority of the people and adopt a Imperialist foreign policy out of Economic interests to make more money for the Oil Industry, which really stems from the fact that we are in a continuing economic downfall with large companies going bankrupt, thousands of employee's being laid off each month, the deficit swelling larger and larger and the dollar falling further and further, so naturally we make a grab for Central Asian and Mid East oil and go on the largest global military quest since the fight against Communism to secure foregin economic interests using the "War on Terror" as an excuse. Is that a bit better? |

| You blow the perportion of Americans who aren't satisfied by Bush's work. I believe it was 61% of registered voters were over-all satisfied by how Bush was handling the presidentcy. I'm glad Bush has the nerve to say a war on terrorism. Terrorism is a horrible thing, and it should not be allowed to take the lives on innocent civilans. Terrorists aren't linked directly to countries most of the time. Only Afghanistan was DIRECTLY linked to complete terrorist support (evidence piles against Iraq, but nothing is written in stone) the reason Iraq must be stopped is because they fail to comply with weapons inspection ( the UN is almost confident now Sadam is hideing weapons in presidental palaces of his ). I really don't think the whole think over Iraq circles around oil; and you can't really prove any ties to polotical monopoly to big buisness. |

It is an unwinnable war, and it is being hijacked for economic aims, I guess it is pure coincedince Iraq holds 60 percent of the world's oil reserves? And from what I see most people are against the coming War. Demonstrations keep mounting(with the largest being one in Union Square in NYC that drew 25,000, sponsored by Not In Our Name an organization formed after 9/11 opposed to the War with a "pledge of resistance" signed by over 600 intellectuals, humanitarians, and entertainers including Susan Sarandon, Martin Sheen, Wyclef Jean, Oliver Stone and Noam Chomsky), currently there have been demonstrations and teach-in's against an invasion of Iraq held on 126 college campuses in 35 states in the past month, and grassroots Anti-War committee's are being formed by College students all over the country, the seeds of a potentially powerful Anti-War movement have been planted. |

and I agree with the concept the US should NOT act alone; but SOMETHING must be done on a global scale. It's not about oil, it's about stopping a man who had proven over the past 2 decades to gas hundreds of thousands ( the kurds ) , and use aggresive force to take over large peices of land from obtaining weapons of massive destruction and using them on nations like Kuwait, Israel, Britin, and America. There are MANY other lists of potential targets Iraq could lash out at as well. He has broken so many UN sanctions in such a vile manner, it is disgusting.
I guess the rest of the world thinks it's OKAY to sit back on their ass and twidle their thumbs while a crazed warlord builds an aresnal that could take hundreds of thousands of lives. |
