Uhoh  Teachers...

This last thursday I started my biology class in the nearest community college for high school and college credits, I'm only 16, in 11th grade but since I'm being home schooled(going on two years now ) I have better oppertunities than public school.

Anyways, I've had bad experiences with teachers, I've only had 3 cool teachers EVER, and that's pretty sad. I went to class pretty nervous because I didn't know how the teacher was going to treat me, but once I got to class, it was sooo amazing! My teacher treats her students like adults! She's very friendly, very understanding; it's just a different environment than K-12.

I mean teachers that teach high school etc. they play favorites, they get mad when you don't know something, they don't care for their students and their well being, they're just there for the money and they treat their students like, well kids, no respect, nothing! I don't know if you've had teachers like that but, trust me, there are a lot of them out there!

When I was going to public school, teachers put so much pressure on you, and they instill fear through they're teaching! And it's hard to learn things when they do that. After my class I was soo inspired, and I think(I know) that, that's what teachers that teach any grade should be doing but they don't. I'm thinking, why aren't there more teachers in the world like my teacher Mrs. Gardner? Unlike HS teachers, she understands that your not gonna know everything, she seems just to enjoy teaching and wants to teach and that everything isn't about money, it's the joy of helping people become more intelligent and informed beings.

I don't know how to explain what I'm saying any better(I have writers block and it getting me MAD!) but what do you think?, To you, how should teachers teach and how should they treat their students?

Being a teacher is an extremely hard job.. You have to educate unwilling children, which some of them act like total jackasses. Keep testing scores up, have poor benifit plans, and not make much money at all.

I feel if teachers were payed more, that they would generally do a better job teaching. It would attract more smart people into the field.

The main problem in my old highschool was the ghetto kids that all thought they were gangsters. They would sit up in class and talk crap, even to the teachers faces. Alot of kids deserve and should be kicked out of the school systems.. but teachers have to deal with those jackasses on a daily basis. It's a very stressful job.

I've had many bad teachers, but at the least I respect them. I respect them for being able to hand 7 periords of 30 loud and annoying kids and teenagers five days a week.

I agree that teaching is extremly hard, but it becomes a problem when they affect a child, teen's education negitively! It all boils down to the if you want respect then treat people with respect! I think that if teachers would respect and treat teens as adults it'll make them want to learn and want to be at school. Teens will act like jackass' when they aren't treated in a postive way, when they don't have a postive atmoshpere to come to every 5 days of the week, every year.

When a person chooses to become a teacher, they have to know that it's not a high paying job! Money isn't everything like I said! No matter how much teachers get paid, they still should be inspiring kids to want to learn, that if they set their mind on something they can accomplish any of their goals. Teachers are one of the most influencial(sp?) people in a kids life next to their parents, they have to realize that, what they do affects the students in one way or another, good or bad.

Solid Snake and Hood Movies taught me everything from how to fire a pistol with a LAM to attatching a 21 inch golden plated chrome hubcap on a 79' chrystler.

Teachers are people, and I once considered becoming a teacher. Then I remember all the jackasses who went to school just to smoke pot and mess around. It's not worth it to teach in this day and age. You don't even get paid well for putting up with all that crap. Money is everything to any intellgent working person, you work damn hard for money. It's just not worth the stress of teaching when you look at a pay check a teacher gets. Some teens will act like jerks 24/7, especially the deeper you go into citys.

Inspiring a kid to learn is pointless, if someone isn't willing to learn and doesn't want an education they should not recieve one. They are simply an unessisary distraction for those who actually give a rats ass and try. Also a pain in the teachers ass.

I'm done with this thread for now either way.

I know that money is everything, it supports you in every way, but is it that important at the cost of a kids education? I agree that teachers should be paid more, but they're not, and it's sad to say that hookers get paid more than teachers!

See, your only seeing it in B & W Elvaan_Elmdor, your not seeing the gray!

I understand that it's a hard job, I even consider being a teacher but I don't let the jackass kids that I use to go to school with change my mind and discourage me about being a teacher! If you think it's so pointless for people to become teachers in this day and age, then no one would be educated, we would all be stupid people grunting around like cavemen did! I just think that teachers should met the kids halfway with certain things and so should the kids met the teachers halfway with certain things too!

Watch Boston Public! That's how teachers should be! It's scripted, it hollywood, so who cares, David E. Kelly has a vision of how teachers should be like, how schooling school should be like, so maybe you should watch it some time!

But I'm going to sleep!!!

That show (boston public) has way too much drama, and if anything, is propaganda to make normal teachers look bad because of how easy they make it look.

Sorry, but not everyone can be a profession on moral grounds to better mankind.

Boston Public is a joke, and a total fantasy. No school will ever be like that. They took every media explosion that happened in a school nation wide and wrote them into the story line just for the sake of drama. Then they added teachers who seem to care a disgustingly unbeleivable amount about their student's wellfare, and thus, a FOX ratings grabber is born. The principal is terrible, he over-acts everything. The fact of the matter is, teaching is a highly demanding job, on very low pay (publicly). Not every teacher is going to find the will to put as much effort and interest into their cirriculum as you would wish, but that's how schools are. The kids who really want to learn will take their own initiative anyway.

I remember I had two teachers that actually cared about students. It was this past 11th grade year. Both of them were AP teachers. They both risked their own personal lives just to teach us. I mean when most of us looked at them at personal glance they spent more time at school then they did at home on weekdays and weekends combined. Perhaps they had nothing better to do or then again they really did care. They pushed me and my classmates harder then any of those teachers at my school put together (then again thats the purpose of being in an AP class but it was so new to some of us who have been in the same public school system for 12 years who have never made anything better for the students). We really learned alot this year and I'll be ever grateful to them, especially if I get into a college or university. Its all too much to babble on about so I'm going to stop here.
