Do you think people with medical problems, like a mental condition, or someone with cancer, want you to treat them like they're different?
Like, you always act like you're sorry for them. Do you think that's what they want?

Good point Killak...but if its someone yoy have gotten to know in a while or a best friend thats been with you for ages ...when illness or conditions worsen ...its only natural that people express concern for the plight of poeple....Probably the person concerned does not want someone elses pity or concern but i think its just in humans nature to show they care and will be there for someone no matter what....
Thats what i think anyways.... |

| good thread. i think they want u to c them as a regular person. if u feel bad or treat them differently they will think that ur only being this way cuz of wat they have. so no i don't think thats wat they want. |

You have to be kidding. If I had a disabling disease or condition, I'd want people to treat me different, or at least recognize I had a problem and mention/tend to it at the appropriate time. I don't want feigned sympathy, I want honesty, and sincerity. |

| no one should have a disabling diesease and if they do they dont want hand outs, they just wanna be normal. |

| No, they most certainly do not. People with inflictions like that are worrying about the day they will die, and less about how they are fitting in. |

| No, absolutely not. Treat them as if you would treat any other person. For me, it's like having a gay/bi/les friend. I wouldn't treat them any differently than my other friends. Sure, I would sympathize for their situation, but that doesn't mean I treat them specially or whatever. They are human beings after all with feelings, and thus they want to be treated with respect like any other person... |
