| How many of you have ever really thought about communism, not the hell that Stalin or Mao Zedong created. Real communism like Karl Marx's dream, or Leon Trotsky. In idea it could work if it was placed into a stable economy...like the USA. Go to www.Marxists.org b4 you reply, I would recommend Leon Trotsky's work personally, i'll prolly take some heat for this subject, oh well... |

| Communism, I think it's a great way to govern a country...errr...wait. I mean that's awful, it's only effective when you have a country full of people incapable of making real descisions. But's that's coming from somone who used to live in Russia. |

Russia never succeeded in making Karl Marx's form of Communism. Although Karl Marx's Communism isn't really Communism, but Marxism.
Anyway, Marxism, which is what you're referring to, is impossible. The balance of everyone being "equal," is so easily disrupted, the country would fall apart extremely quickly. Marxism is an unachievable dream, and can only work in *extremely* small groups of people. |

I'm glad someone brought up this topic. I have personally read a lot of books on Karl Marx and his theories. Basically, communism works in theory, but the main obstacle of putting it into action is human nature. All humans are driven to be better than others around them, and the whole idea of communism is that everyone is equal. Due to the human desire of wanting to get ahead of everyone else, communism does not work in practice. An excellent system, but the one flaw that Marx did not consider was human nature.

| Marxism is debatley part of communism, he laid the tracks for all of the great communists of the world, marxism sets up the ideals and leaders like lenin adjust it to fit to a country...so in my opinon marx laid out the guidelines and leaders mold them |

I have read many of Marx and Engles' works, they have i deas that are virtually imposible to achivebut Leon trotsky explains in many of his works that communism could work, if placed into a stable economy, like the US's, people wouldnt have to compete, all industries could be combined...the govt could dictat what people produce, and expand upon, not compete about prices on.
EX. if the US was communist they could combine: Ford, GM, Dodge, Pontiac, etc. and tell them, Make a hydragin powered car, we could be a hunderd years ahead in technology if there was no communism |

| Communism failed, because it sucks. Simple as that. I think it's horrible how you basically control the people. |

Attrox, Communism wasn't really control over people. It meant that everyone was equal. There were no factory owners of land owners that could rip money from their employees. Everything was owned by the state. Which meant that everyone had equal oppotunities to earn the same as each other.
The control over people that you refer to is Propaganda, this did not become apparent until Stalin's Reign during World War II.
Whether you want to face it or not, Democracy is control over people. There's the working class people who are controlled by the big fat cat bosses and land owners, who are controlled by the Government etc. On the face of it democracy may look like freedom but it certainly isn't. |
