As the years have gone by I've seen on the news that other teens atempt to copycat Columbine. I think this is sick, but it makes you think about people in general. I truely think that such events could have been prevented if schools had programs helping kids from being bullied, if the teachers actually cared that kids were being bullied, if someone was there to help support these kids that get bullied. I've notcied that after these events the kids refer to the shooters as outcasts such as Columbine kids did, but how could they be outcasts if everyone knew them? Was it because of they wore to school, or who they were? Or was it because everyone picked on them, made fun of them, or harrassed them? Now I'm Not saying that these acts are acceptable and that I agree with it, I totally disagree and shooting people isn't the solution, but I think we need to talk about bullies.
More and more kids are killing themselves or think about it or try to copycat columbine because of other kids that think they are more superior and better than them. But they're not! Kids that bullie have problems at home etc. and they think that if they can make fun of somebody because of something about them, it'll take away their problem, but it doesn't or they're just plan jelious of that person. Just because they have problems at home or whatever doesn't justify their actons, because it's wrong to bullie kids. Just think of the emotional damage you give them when you bullie someone? Do you ever consider that they have feelings too, like you?
Have you ever stood by when seeing some one bullie a kid and you knew it was wrong? Did you know it's worst to just stand by and let it happen? Are you afraid of getting made fun of because of standing up for someone? With school coming in a few weeks or already started for some of you, think twice before making fun of someone, cuz how would you like it if you where in their position?
If your wondering why I feel so strong about this is because I'm trying to help get a grant to help kids that get harassed, made fun of etc. And also because I was one of those kids that got harassed everyday, by everyone, afriad to walk in the school halls because I'd get made fun of. Teachers never cared, all they said was to stop but they still did it. I never had a shoulder to lean on to support me. I don't want sympathy, it was in the past...
Now, I'm gonna leave the rest of discussion to all of you, or I'd be doing it all by myself, lol. I'd like your imput on this important subject. So I'll leave you all to youpondering thoughts... |

The kids that try to copycat the actions at Colombine aren't bullies, they're just loosers.
I don't really have a problem with this at my school...nobody ever gets bullied. So I can't really comment on this. |

It's the whole mindset of school. If they just tought kids, what was _really_ a 'cool' thing to be doing or a 'cool' way to act, instead of following the crowd, soon enough, the crowd would change.
It's a little corny, but people didn't have these problems in the 60's and before. I can honestly say it's the lack of good parenting these days... Common sense in most children gets thrown out the window and they come up with their own greedy way of doing things. |

That can only go so far, you need to teach them in the early years. Now, once your a teen, they can't really.
I know my parents "parenting stratagies", whenever they try something I just reject it. |

| i dont know anyone who act that way but i know alot of bullies...but thats no problem...they are really chickens...a bully i know stopped cuz i beat him up... |

| Bullies... pfft. I have nothing but contempt for bullies... all they want to do is show how tough they are and show off, but in reality it's really nothing and shows how small and weak they really are. The ones who really do well and succeed and everything aren't the bullies. |

| Bullies are just inadequate peopel whose way..of 'friendship' with others is to instill fear in them...then you get those who follow him around worshiping him (or probably dont want to suffer his wrath) and this eggs him on.....Itll happen all the time....i think everyone knows of a school bully at their school one time |
