| Names...what are they really? Names are simply identifiers of a specific bag of bones that are you. It's both good and bad. It's an identifier, but it's a great limitation on yourself. We attach all of these things to our names, who we think we are. But in reality, we are all playing roles. You know what it is like to be free of that? The split second before you wakeup, that moment just before you hear the alarm clock go off. Before you think of anything, you mind is abesolutely clear. That is who you are, and that is what it is like to be free of these roles. You define who you are, not your roles...what do you think about that? |

Bah, names... such shackles that are chained to our wrists in it. Names are irrelevant... they should be abolished, they're nothing more than an identifier of who we are.

Of course. People could walk around just talking to eachother. But, what if you wanted to get someone's attention, or organize a group?
You can't do these things without some sort of distinction. I don't think of all my names as different people, but just another name for the same person. Jon, Marc, FFG, FFGnome, Gnome, ect. They are all me, it depends on who you are, how you recognise me.
I think they are essential to everyday life, but if the world was perfect, then tranquility would abolish names.  |
