Ever since 9/11, the U.S. government has upped airport security majorly. They do this to prevent terrorist from taking action, and it has worked to an extent.
But the reason of this topic isn't about that, it's about privacy. If you have been in an American airport lately, you should have noticed how bad things have gotten. Racial profiling has became an issue, and they always go through your luggage - when at many times you have personal items in there.
About a week ago, they made a lady drink her own breast milk, which she was carrying in her luggage for her baby - just to make sure it was a "safe" substance.
Now in my opinion, that is going a little to far. So what are your opnions on the airport security? Would you rather have a lot more privacy, or be safe and crack down on terrorism? (which usually meens save lives)
I personally am for the security, as it keeps people safe and will prevent things similar to what happened on 9/11.
Wherever the most evidence lies, is where they should be checking for the majority of the time. It doesn't really make sense, but racial profiling can be accurate on some cases. But I really do not want to get into racism right now...Sure security is tight right now, but it will never be forever.
That's also a valid statement, it depends on just how far one person goes. Too much and there is will be problems. I do not believe in racism, I think it's wrong to stereotype an entire class of people because there are prone to this or that. It's absurd, and untrue.

In some cases, not all - it goes over the limit at times. I'm a mexican-american, so I get it every now and then. Whenever me and my friends walk into a mall, the security oftne follows us around...but try to hide it. Some of this is "ageism", they're just watching us cause they have a negative view at teens...but when I'm alone in the store, clerks always watch me closely...It's kinda wierd.
When I was in Europe it was REALLY bad, in Germany everyone stared at me...even the shoppers...'twas wierd. o.O
Racisem is an issue, but you can't label everyone a racist.
I think the airport security should always be tighter and always should have been. They just made flying in an airplane, seem like driving your car to work. That's all well and good, but they forget the kind of safety mesures needed to make that a decent way to travel.
And about the racially profiling people from the middle east, people need to realize that muslim radicals are trying to bring down America - any high-jacker will most likely be muslim, if they are from this group.
Hmm... I've always thought the upped airport security really doesn't help very much. First off, it exposes the privacy of a lot of people. Second, 99% of those being screened and randomly selected are innocent. Third, the security doesn't help very much, and this applies not only to airports, but to major corporations as well. I read an article once on how the CIA or some other group made a secret test of the security systems of many corporations and airports. The results were rather saddening- in nearly every case they managed to get agents with briefcases and bags that could potentially hide weapons and bombs to areas where many people congregate and into high security areas with no prepreation whatsoever. Makes you want to really look at what the security is really doing eh...? o.o
