Do all roads lead to God?

The latest religus trend is the philosophy of "What ever works for you", or Postmodernism. To my mind this philosophy dosen't make much sense. It seems to state that all religons are equally vallid and correct. To be blunt, this is not possible. As an example, Christianity states clearly that Jesus is God and the only way to Heaven is through him. I may be missenterpriting the word "only" or the before mentioned philosophy but they seem to directly clash and in unreconcilible ways. So my question to you all is,
Do all roads, religons, lead you to God and Heaven? And how do you justify your position? |

| I would have to say yes, and no. If I remember correctly in the case of Christianity, or more directly the bible, it doesn't say anything about there being only one god. If I remember correctly the implication is that there may be other gods, but you just don't mess with them. Now here's the no part. If you assume that "Heaven" is something created by that god, then only those who follow him would go to that "Heaven" however it doesn't say anything about other gods (if there are others) having their own "Heaven". And now the yes part. So in a sense all religions could lead you to a "Heaven" like place, and to their respective gods. Then in a sense all religions could lead you to a "heaven" and a god. |

the bible says there is no other gods, but it ALSO says "thou shalt put no other gods before me" so then..what other gods if there are none? ehh? it's odd
ad no i don't my religions does not lead to god and heaven, after death i start alloer again and never stop. ever, hmm tis fun, a Goddess and a God exist but are FAR different from GOD, so err..no. and wel Christians won't nor Jews nor Muslims, because they belive their religion to eb the ONE TRUE RELIGION and others are just wrong. just part of their life |

| You make a good point Ranma except that the Bible does say there is only one God, the capital G is the important part in this, however it also says that humans can elivate things to the statas of god, no capital, this dose not grant that thing god like abilitys just the place of god in that humans life. |

| Actually what I was refferring to would be the passage that Ancalagon reffered to "Thou shalt put no other gods before me" And I would like to know where it says that there is only one god. Not that I'm saying it doesn't, but it would give me a better understanding. |

My religion changes every 2 weeks or so, yet never going to one that believes in god. truly i'm athiest and believe that once you die, you die, no one controls the universe, you just blaze your own path.
if there is a heaven, multiple heavens, and you believe in them, good for you i hope you go to one, but on my side of the chess board, i'ma live this life well, hopefully die protecting someone, and just plain die, no god, no goddess, just -beep, your dead, congrats you made through that crummy life still sane- |

I think to continue this branch of the discusion we will need to start another thread. So I will and put my answer there.

| if your a Monotheist(ieChristian, Jewish, or Islamic, belivers in one god..so i suppose Zoraostrians as well, eveb though that's dead) then yes, because one hallmark of monotheism is that that religion believes themself to be wholly correct and the only path to salvation, usually in Heaven of some sort |
