this may annoy some people but this is a rant and I'm putting tact aside.
I just looked at the line up in this forum and i noticed that nearly all the threads are the same
Either someone wants to Snuff it or they've got into trouble in the pants department..
Why is everyone here so depressive?
as i've pointed out before i don't mean any offense, I just wanted to get that off my chest. |

I agree with you in most parts. Balamb has sort of evolved into a self-help forum rather than a place for serious dicussion. However, not all the threads in here are about "DUDE I LOSTZ MY G/F WTF", or "Sadness..........I......Think....I'll.......cut.. ...myself...."
I think the number of these threads reflects the average age of the poster here. At that level of maturity, those sort of ideas are the dominant thought process going though their minds. It's natural. GG RP, 300 for good observation and the guts to express the truth. |

| I'm glad at least some people feel this same sentiment as well. There's nothing wrong with a serious problem, I can understand depression, and even get some sort of fufillment from actually discussing it, but most of the threads here have become repetitive, it's really as if you wanted advice you could go a page over and find it without trouble, and it usually ends up being about self reassurance or just the cumulative anxiety of a bad day to fade the next. I like serious debates, but usually when one gets posted it sinks faster than the Titanic, either to lack of interest or morons flocking to get their say in on something they know nothing about, either by spreading fabrications or just saying things like "dood, I agree", "Tru dat", "Yeah, but I don wanna talk bout it." It's really a shame most actual conversations here spiral downward into an argument over one misunderstanding, an off topic, flaming derailment, or a convergence of fools posting irrelevant opinions. It's near impossible to enforce good posting habits, but I try to encourage them, I just wish people would listen. |

well i haven't been here that long but i had noticed that too that it was all like "i was i was dead 4" threads or somehting.
which is pretty repettetive and boring, but i'm pretty sure that when something comes along for us to talk about then truly interesting intelligent discussion will begin, unless theres a topic worthy of intellectual input then we're not going to get intellectual posts.
but i guess us all just saying that there is a lack of good topics and agreeing with each other isn't solving anything |

| There should be some kind of rule, where you aren't allowed to post those kinds of threads. That way we won't have these kinds of problems, if someone wants to talk to someone about they're problems, they could just as easily IM them. |

I thinks all the posts are fine as long as there is a ballance, now a days there are too many " help Im falling and can't get up threads" but no real threads that get you thinking and make you post intelligent posts. I would much rather see very contriversal/philisophical topics where the answers are totally up to the ppl to choose to understand.
I personally am willing to donate 100 rp for every good topic that is posted but I'll probably run out of rp. If it is incentive that you want then OK I will donate. |

| It's not really a matter of thread content to me, but the constant reposting of the same problems and same situations, most of them seem like some sort of plea for attention. Sometimes I'll type out a reply and just delete it, knowing that no one will care about or listen to something that they either don't want to hear, or is too long to read. I'll start donating more for creative and perculating threads, but needless to say, those are quite rare as it is. |

Unfortunately, this forum is open for such "pity parties." There really isn't anything to do about it, unless the content gets out of hands. So, simply bear with it, let them ignore the advice they recieve and move on. Meanwhile, search for the truly important threads, which I feel there should be a system for marking. Any personal problem threads should be marked with a [P]. Ex: [P] Brian's Sob Story. And all intellectual discussions about more broad topics should be labeled with [i] for important issue or something else that makes sense. Heh. *shurugs* Just an idea.
Also, it seems it wasn't too long ago when I posted a thread with the same topic. Downfall of Balamb Gardens, and got blasted for my complaints. It seems opinions have changed somehow. |
