| there are many types of people in this world...and some feel to blend in they must alter there personality to "fit in" with the "popular kidz" and not just dressing like them ...acting like them..mimicking their every move....I had a friend who **USED** to be like me(kind of kept to himself..lil' gothic" but since he started to "join the crowd" he has abandoned me and my friends..and is now embarrased to talk with me infront of his new so called "friends" and now I'm not sure......but does anything like this ever happen to you ? |

Yes, by best bud always picked on me infront of his 'mates'.
It sucks, especially when you have known 'em for years. Back stabing is painful, but the quetion is was he happy.
If he was happy I didn't give. He was my mate and I sacrifice for mates... or used too.
Betrayl is 1c a dozen today. Especially if you are not 'normal'. But I have mates who would fight for me like I'd fight for them(reminisant of D12) so **** the posers. Be yourself even if I, or others, don't like you.
But it is sad, if he ever decides not to be in the "in' crowd though. And he comes too you, what would you do. This is the test you can pass or fail. But there are no set marks.
Aslong as ypur happy with the desicion that's all that counts.

| Well, friends can be cruel, I've had several of them, one had suddenly fallen in the "IN CROWD" but I was never interested, in actuality I always hoped to avoid that. One minute she's my friend, next a nasty rumor, started by her is surfacing the campus. And came two others who stabbed me in my back without knowing it. People can be disgusting, but I can be too, if you get on my bad side. I'm not a good person and no one is. We all have our demons, but I haven't ever done anything like that, never know maybe I will in the future. I've always been quiet and avoided social circles, when I had friends there were few, and turned out to be popular wannabes. Who wants to be popular anyhow, or something that only defines an act? I feel naked in being surrounded by so many, because I'm the opposite of that. |

its sad when that happens, when a long time friend just forgets about you. :\
Never happened to me. BUt I run with the "in crowd" as you put it, but I never make fun of most people, if I do, its never to their face's.
I talk to everyone tho, just mainly "the popular people" |

| I agree people can be cruel in order to obtain popularity it just makes me sick..which is 1 reason I'm depressed right now.....GOD I hate some people! |

People can be lame and pathetic.
It used to be the same at my college, when I first started to go there, there was this girl in my year who thought she was everything, she decided to dislike me even though she didn't even know me.
It all came to a head when she started spreading rumours about me around the college. I flipped and had it out with her in the common room, after that I never had any problems with her and people realised that I wasn't gonna be walked all over.
Now that all that stuff happened, I've turned into quite the popular little missy ^^, I talk to everyone at my college, and I hang with all kinds of different people. I hang with Punks/Gothics/Wiggers/trendies, you name it, and we all talk to each other

| What's the deal with popularity? All kids do nowadays involves trying to be popular. If I was popular I'd kill myself, but needless to say I've already done that mentally. It's all I see in the media, guess it's one of the lucky things about not being enrolled in a public school system. |
