If you're afraid of death, then you're unwilling to take risks, because every risk ultimately has the chance of leading to death. If you're unwilling to take risks, and instead sit sheltered and safe from harm, what's the point of living? To be comfortable? Feh.
I respect death, and I am unwilling to die, but I do not fear death. Every day is a day I waltz ever closer in my dance with death, and I will fight her face-to-face if need be. I will not be Death's master, nor will she be my mistress. It is mutual respect that binds us, even as we square off against each other.
It is this that true devotees of any path see in their rivals, and that is why they aren't afraid of defeat, even while they fight to win. |
