The cost is right now scripted at $58 dollars, with a $9.50 monthly fee, although the first two months are free. If you buy it for the PS2 instead of the PC, you have to buy the $150 ethernet adapter, as well, but that can also be applied to other games, while the PC version is simply for the PC.
Also, with the monthly fee, you get access to Square's PlayOnline service, which supposedly lets you play cards with other players. Eventually, as they get more games running, that fee will umbrella over EVERY game you want to play online, so you will be getting more for your money. Though why you'd want to play anything other than FFXI, I have no idea.  |
