I disagree. How many times have you sat down in the pub with your mates, started a conversation about epigenetics and stuck specifically to that subject? As someone brings one thing up, you're going to think of something that may be distantly associated with it, creating a change in topic and a shift in direction.
That is the natural flow of a conversation, it's what keeps things going. Understandably you'd want to stick to one specific topic and all related issues in Balamb Gardens, but I personally see no problems with "hijacking" a thread in CDS and changing the direction of the conversation.
What I meant by disrupting the natural flow is if someone just interjects with a COMPLETELY offtopic post. If the discussion of a thread changes because that's just how it progressed, that's alright...but if someone just randomly starts talking about ardvarks in a thread about the United States Supreme Court, there is a problem.

With the flaming section you really ought to use an analogy or something to illustrate what is acceptable and what isn't. I still think a certain degree of offensiveness should be tolerated, like the Ozzy Osbourne remark I made once upon a time, even if you crack down on everything else, snide remarks must stay!
I like snide remarks, but some people apparently can't handle them I will work going through various threads and finding inappropriate flames and whatnot to add as examples, though!

I don't like that this seems to suggest that one complaint will outright result in the removal of something. If quite a few people in the community make similar complaints, fair enough. But just one or two, even if they are reporting every post someone makes? **** 'em, we know this treating the minority groups better than everyone else doesn't do much for making a nice atmosphere in the real world, don't do it here.
Alright. I agree with that. I'll see who else I can get to agree on that statement. That was one of the issues that came up with the Heterosexual White Man's Club. We had a few complaints from different types of people pertaining to the "appropriateness" of it...and apparently it has kept people from wanting to register. I know you'll say, "well then they don't have to," and I agree, but it had also offended people who are long-standing members.

Lmao, NIPPLES! My only real issue here is the art forum bit. Why not credit the members with some intelligence as appreciators of art, because there's nothing [MATURE] about nudes in art, it's a been a staple subject for hundreds and hundreds of years. OUtlaw hentai all you like, no one wants to see tentacle rape, but if someone has a life drawing or something they want to show don't make them slap some tag on it like it's dirty or something. I find nudes far less offensive than fanart that's all traced ****e.
The only reason why we put the need for the tag in there is because people veiw the forum at school or at work, and could either get in trouble or fired for veiwing any sort of nudity. It's a protective precaution and used on behalf of the members to keep them from getting in trouble BECAUSE of the forum.

They should review it with the "troller", let people say things for themselves, if they have to say anything at all. I despise trolling rules, because it's basically the rule that allows you to be penalised for practically anything. How do you even know what a member's motives are anyway? It's a bit much to presume that because you have a bold username you're able to make a judgement like that.
True. That's why trolling was hard to write on. Some people are blatantly trying to get another member to react, though.

How's this sound. If someone can be goaded into something so easily, and then gets in a big strop, no big deal! They're probably of the Kosai/Black War quality...and that drama you hate so much? Everyone says they don't like it, but it creates more entertainment and activity than anything else. You ought to be promoting it, on the sly, rather than trying to stifle it, which is pretty futile anyway.
Haha. I can appreciate some drama...just not stupid ****. |
