A Perfect World
These cynical thoughts poison my mind
I search for the innocence I long to find
I used to live in blissful naiveté
But now I face utter dismay
I was once but a child in a world of my own
The war, the terror, it was all unknown
But now I’m older, a little more keen
And now the true darkness I have seen
What is happening to the world I once knew?
Good deeds and morals? In this world only a few
There’s poverty, famine, greed and war
I never knew this existed before
A broken heart, a tear-streaked face
All too often it’s commonplace
Perhaps in mankind I have little faith
But it seems to be our destined fate;
To destroy ourselves and leave nothing behind
Self-destruction will be the end of mankind. |
