Soul Mates
There’s something different with you
The love is so real, the love is so deep
I challenge you, tell me you don’t feel it too
I’ve told you before, but I repeat, my heart is yours to keep
Rejections, I’ve had a few
But I don’t know what it is about you
That makes me feel the way I do
You have rejected me
It bleeds, it bleeds
Makes my heart bleed, can’t you see?
Don’t do this to me, please
There’s someone better out there
I can feel it in my heart
One who’ll love me, one who’ll care
Funny, quick-witted and smart
That reminds me of you
Maybe you are my soul mate
Maybe we will say, “I do.”
If God so chooses it, if it’s our fate
Rejections, I’ve had a few
But I don’t know what it is about you
That makes me feel the way I do
Maybe you are, after all, my soul mate
But does that mean I’m yours?
I hadn't written in a really long time. The last poem I wrote was about my dad having cancer. I did that about a year ago. But it was so painful, I didn't want to start up writing again. I kept telling myself there was nothing to write about, but last night, I just started writing this, and I editted it today. |
