I love these buggers...the harder, the better. Me and my boss were recently trading little riddles like "What is so fragile that when you say its name, you break it?" (the answer being silence), and he dropped a really good riddle:
Three men are captured by cannibals. They are taken to an arrangement of five stakes that are set up in a zigzag pattern. They are tied to the front three of the stakes, all facing forward. They can't see behind them, nor can they see the stakes they are actually tied to. Thus, the third man can see the other two (and the stakes they are tied to), and the second man can see the first (and his stake). The first man can't see anyone else.
The cannibals tell them that if a man can guess what color stake he is tied to, all three can go free. If he guesses wrong, they will all be eaten. If no one guesses, they will be made slaves. Finally the chief gives them their only clue: There are 3 blue stakes, and 2 red ones. Several minutes tick by, and then the front man yells out "I've got it!" He was right. What was his guess and why?
Anybody got a better one?
EDIT: Also, if any of the men tell the others what color of stake they're tied to, all three get eaten
