PSXplay and PSMplay have their limits, as they can only play the individual video files on PSX discs. Final Fantasy VIII, for example, has most of its data smooshed into one file. You need a special utility to extract movies from FFVIII.

Then again, that's still only the FMV. Games seem to be relying less and less on FMV, and more on in-game cutscenes, so something like PSMplay wouldn't work out. Plus I doubt those programs work on PS2 discs anyway.

Once you've got a capture card, it's easy sailing (provided your computer's compatible) from there. You merely install the card into your PC, install the appropriate software, hook your console up to your computer, and capture away. Your school might even have a capture card, or a video card with a TV tuner, seeing as how schools are all newfangled and shiny nowadays. Try asking around.
