I also find nothing wrong with chivalry but it is not the place of the government to force chivalry upon men at their will. Chivalry to me is opening door for a woman, uttering no vulgar words around her and following nearly her every order. But when something that has such a large impact on an entire nation as war does, it is in no way fair to say, "Well, the majority of you are too weak so we're just gonna go with the general assumption that you're not fit for war and let you gals stay at home, where you belong."
As far as using men and women as meat for other armies to blow to pieces, yea, that is oftentimes what happens. But I refuse to allow the government to tell me that it's better I die than a woman. Although I may feel that is the case in my personal life, I will not have that be mandated by a higher up. That's only one more case of the gov't trying to regulate morality on levels that need only be controlled by the individual.
And to the part about leaving women at home to watch the kids or clean the house, that's another area that you either need to be all or nothing on. If you feel that men are not capable of successfully taking care of their own household and children. If you feel that we are THAT dependant on females, drooling over ourselves and everything, I assume that in the case of the divorce you would give custody to the woman 90 percent of the time, no? If so, perhaps such a strange outlook on the ability to support a family based on gender is getting in the way of a logical viewpoint on drafting women. |
