Why is that? Some people feel they have lost trust simply from being over-analytical, trying to hear more than people say either to please or displease themself. Could you elaborate?

There are plenty of trustworthy people, the thing is, it has to be mutual. If there isn't a basic respect or understanding between two people, there can't be trust. The idea that you could downplay or aggrandize your own image, and have someone else have no way of credifying your claim is tempting, you try to make yourself something your not to please someone else, and when they do actually get to know you, it's hard to build trust. Maybe if people would stop telling all the meaningless lies, then we'd have a foundation for integrity. |
