Eh, well there's no way I'd buy any sort of computer from a Wal-Mart. Actually, there's no way I'd buy a pre-built system unless it's a Mac, but that's just me. For me it's custom all the way. That way you know exactly what your computer is capable of and is upgradability. I built the computer I use and have built a LOT of computers for customers here. So yeah, go custom if you can. I always say that if you can build your own then do so. Otherwise go with a company that WILL custom build you a PC. Never, ever, ever go with a Compaq or an HP. Out of ALL the computers I work on, they make up about 75% of them. Granted that sometimes it's user error, but more often than not it's equipment failure. Namely the power supply or hard drive. They use cheap parts that don't last long. Gotta be careful of that.
Normally I say go with AMD, but when you compare a Celeron with a Duron, the Celeron would be the better choice IMO. Though, if given other options I wouldn't take either one. Of course, it all depends on what you plan on doing with this system. If you want to play all the high-end games you should go with something a little better. Element is right, it's just not worth it if there's no AGP slot. Upgradability is key. Because by the time you upgrade it to however you want it, you will have probably spent more money than you should have. |
